Ya know it’s Tempranillo, but damn, that nose could be Garnacha.15 % really comes to the fore. It’s iron bloody, w hints of soil. Jammy roses?
It’s big bodied, but full of acidic lift, cherries, dusty earth, always brawnier than the brother Tondonia.fills your mouth with deep redness.
I’ll always have room for these.

Presented blind alongside three other red wines; another Bordeaux and two Bordeaux blends from CA. All wines were descanted and returned to the bottle 8 hours prior.
This wine pours a deep garnet with an opaque core. Medium+ viscosity. Medium+ intensity. The nose was a mix of red and dark fruits with currants and cherries, tobacco, pencil shavings, earth, espresso and baking spice. There’s just a whiff of a barnyard in the distance too. On the palate, again the mixed fruit set with beautifully ripened blackberries and black cherries, currants, earth, coffee and baking chocolate. Medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Finishes looooooong, dry and immensely satisfying.
The wine is balanced and leans towards its structure. I called 2004 Latour. The soaring aromatics were simply incredible. I just wanted to spend the entire evening with my nose buried in the glass. This is squarely in the drinking window yet has many years left in it. Drink now with an extended decant or enjoy over the next 10-15 years. — 3 years ago
This iconic wine is always enjoyable at this age. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel.
Dry on the palate with black fruits, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, mocha, coke, vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
This 8 year old is drinking very nicely now and will age nicely in the next decade.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly and show some tannins.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
A great wine to have with good friends. Thank you David for sharing.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. Delicious.
Robert Parker 93 points.
A blend of 80% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Great torre in the making. Sweet black and red cherry, strawberry and dusty like tannins. Nice structure. This beauty has 10-15 years ahead of it even with some air and food it already works great — 7 years ago
Nearly 20 years in bottle. It is still ascending will drink well for another 15 days plus years.
From a warm vintage. Beautiful, even toned fruits with elegant earth & amazing lead pencil bloom for days.
This is approaching its peak, another 5 years from its peak.
Well resolved wine-fruits. The fruits are juicy, blackberries, black raspberries, plum skin, dark cherries & slightly, poached strawberries with a highlight of pomegranate. Mocha, dark chocolate, black tea, sandalwood, sandstone, limestone, some mushroom notes, dark, rich turned earth w/ dry leaves, dry tobacco, dry leather, dry herbs, dry stone, caramel notes, dry, withering, dark, purple & red flowers with excellent acidity, balance, tension, structure and finish for days that lasts 90 seconds. — 5 months ago
I took one whiff and a taste of this and remembered why I love CdP. Red and black berries, earthy, dried herbs, raspberry and coal dust. 60% Grenache; 20% Mourvèdre; 15% Syrah and 5% other permitted varieties Has depth and flavour but does it at just medium bodied. I didn’t realise I had a bottle in mid June 2023. I normally try to spread them out a bit. — 2 years ago
Really tasty and smooth. Monthly pick we had with mom and Cali. — 4 years ago
The 30th Anniversary of this signature wine grapes Puente Alto vineyard, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and espresso notes, a blend of 98% Cab Sauv & 2% aged for 15 month in French oak (66% new). On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with herb, tobacco and smoky oak spice notes. Firm tight tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cacao and toasty spice, needs time to develop, cellar a while! Tasting Sample! — 4 years ago
Still has 15+ years left...stunning integrated dark blue fruit full bodied old world earth clay driven ...the oldest wine I’ve tasted... — 6 years ago
Needs lots of time but would open up in 10-15 years. — 7 years ago
Local wine store has a Spanish wine sale yearly. We have been enjoying the Garnacha wines. Had with stroganoff and the chocolate cookies. More fruity, mellow despite 15% abv. — 9 months ago
Redfruit aromas and flavors, this is still hopelessly young, though the tannins have softened a bit and it seems to be inching towards maturity, impeccable balance and great depth of flavors, super long, lingering finish, just an absolutely fantastic, old school California mountain Cabernet. I have always believed this to be the best Dunn Howell Mountain ever made (I’ve tasted 1981-1992, with a distinct style change towards riper and higher ABV starting around 1992, after which I stopped buying the wine). $15 full retail when I bought it in late 1984. — 2 years ago
Uhmazing! Lovely cab dark tones but incredibly smooth. Gtown 1-15-21 — 4 years ago
Long forgotten in some backwoods Colorado wine shop's mini-fridge, and procured for about half of market rate after 15 years of bespoke provenance rolling through alpine summers and frigid winters. The fresh flavors long having evolved... euphemistically "matured" into deep nutty butterscotch and aged gouda and pear cider on the palate, and a deep gold on the eyes. In all honesty, this Phoenix like anomaly pairs extraordinarily with an aperitivi of parm and salumi after a day's cross country skiing in single digit mountain air. — 5 years ago
This wine was a gift from a friend and it is a nice surprise to me from Argentina. Known by the Malbec this Argentinian Cab blend (60% cab, 25% Malbec and 15% cab franc) has great notes of robusta coffee, tobacco and flower (hydrangea). In you chocolate and dark fruits. It’s higher alcohol level 14,5% ensures its long lasting flavour and a surprisingly round finish. — 6 years ago
Excellent California cab. Bought at Kroger on sale for 15. Very smooth, light fruit, great tannins, nice heat. Would buy again. — 7 years ago

Quite floral with plummy cassis, creamy blackberry and a touch of pencil lead, crushed rocks . On the palate this has quite good freshness , ripe cassis and blackberry , but with dusty firm tannins . Mineral , seashell hints of on the good length finish . Quite richly fruited but well balanced overall . This needs more time but for 2018 is promising, balanced with good freshness . Come back in 10 -15 years and will show well a further 10 — 5 months ago
