Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy – Sancerre Rosé “Terre de Maimbray” 2016
Loire Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
From the limestone-rich slopes of Maimbray, Reverdy crafts this 100% Pinot Noir rosé, showing how Sancerre can shine not only in whites but also in elegant, age-worthy rosés. Though Sancerre is world-famous for Sauvignon Blanc, about 20% of its vineyards are planted to Pinot Noir, which can be vinified as red or rosé. This bottle demonstrates just how gracefully a Loire rosé can evolve with time.
Aromas & Flavors
Wild strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant with rose petals and dried herbs. With age, subtle tones of candied orange peel and a light spice develop, adding dimension without overpowering.
Mouthfeel
Silky and rounded, with acidity still intact to keep it lively. Medium-bodied with a savory edge, balancing freshness and maturity.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside charcuterie, grilled salmon, or roast chicken. The evolved texture also makes it a great partner for mushroom risotto or lentil dishes.
Verdict
A rare aged rosé that proves Pinot Noir from Sancerre can deliver both finesse and staying power. Still vibrant after 9 years, this wine highlights Reverdy’s skill and the region’s versatility beyond Sauvignon Blanc. — 3 months ago

Nose: blackberry flowers. Intense.
Palate: slightly tart blackberry fruit. Clean. Bright. A very well made simple wine. Grippy.
Long finish. — 10 months ago
A real treat of a wine, deliciousness in a bottle. An intense copper, pink color with small bubbles. An intoxicating nose of black cherries, wild strawberries, and smoke. There’s a very nice mix of fresh herbs and spices here, as well. Shrubbery and floral accents.
Mostly Pinot Noir from Vertus along with 10% Pinot Gris, made in the Saignée style. Thrilling and quite vinous with enough of that customary Larmandier-Bernier raciness and tension. Such a beautiful mouthfeel and so incredibly fresh. A fine attack with zippy acidity and impressive length.
Plenty of fruit on the palate but never descending into a fruit bomb. Just a touch of biscuits with more smoke and more pronounced earthiness. Truly, a splendid wine. One I could drink everyday but it’s so much better shared.

Extremely floral on the nose, intense red & blue fruit on the palate leading with cranberry right after opening, then blueberry, finishing with some earthiness and a slightly gritty texture leaving a finish on your palate reminding you the wine was there. We actually quite liked this, but were really confused about why this “dry white wine” came out red 🤷🏼♀️ — 6 years ago

Incredible Nerello Mascalese wine from the slopes of Mt Etna. Made with Burgundian precision by Terre Nere. Bursting with vibrant minerality and fresh dark red fruit supported by soft, small grain tannins guiding it to a smooth, lingering finish. Rivaling a Grand Cru from Burgundy. If you haven’t tried a wine from Mt Etna yet, this is the year!!! — 3 months ago
