Les Côtes de l'Ouest Syrah

Smells of oak! Hazelnuts, and first floor.

First flavors - Tarragon, Thai basil, licorice, more herbaceous than fruit laden, yet still gives rise to the cassis and sweet blackberry, prune. Big tannic backbone, lends me to believe it will last for quite awhile in the cellar.

Interesting Syrah from Amador county California. Very old world-esque. Big black fruit with minerality. This wine was meant to be drank in its youth, and I am consuming it on the back end of its journey. It’s definitely not past it’s prime, but I wonder how much more the fruit would have come thru 4 years ago.

A good balanced wine overall. Not too hot and jammy and not too light and delicate. Refined tannins with a solid structure balanced with a dark layer of red fruit and moderate oak.

Almost old world Syrah from California!! Lighter than old world but still jammy!! Beautiful color, great bouquet on the nose. Pepper, sour cherry. Tannins are well, but not fully, integrated. Still get some puckering on back end...

Saved from mediocrity by an earthy quality on the nose, supplementing jammy fruit. Sweet on the palate. Good, but slightly high at $20.

2013 is a great vintage that gives pronounced fruit and acidity.

Excellent. Dark fruit, dry and medium to full body. Well priced. Would definitely buy this again.
