Super tasty. Cranberry and black fruit. Softening tannins. I got the prime NY steak to pair with this, which was a smart choice. — 7 years ago
Pretty darn good. Not sure it's going to pair well with a cookie making night, but it has that "it's Friday" depth you look for when kicking off the weekend. — 8 years ago
Nice, fuerte in a goodish way. Would do it again, smart — 9 years ago
blackberry and apple ...nonono this is not a combination of two smart phones... — 9 years ago
I am revisiting this wine from last year. It pours a rust red. It is dry with a very long finish now. Vanilla is present on the finish. The “Vanilla Coke cookie” flavor has evolved some, more of a Sophisticated Dr. Pepper with some fruit. Wishing I would have bought more - it is aging very well. — 6 years ago
This wine did well with a little bit of air. It was a little bit dark and mysterious before it had a chance to open. More of a tobacco and muted figs. Seemed to get more youthful and more fruit forward and more peppery on the finish as the hours went on. Started showing a cinnamon spice cookie note in addition to all the black fruit backbone. This is my first experience with this wine and hopefully won't be last. — 7 years ago
Honey, nut nougat, like an Italian cookie. Clean and full but restrained and subtle — 8 years ago
Pinecones and orange blossoms. Pineapple cake and dried apricots fill your nostrils. Lemon-orange, maple, sweet corn, creamy grapefruit, pine nuts and lemon cookie coalesque and then a resinous pine in burlap emerges triumphant in the face of the tropical monsoon. It carries on like pine tar on a baseball bat. Home run! — 9 years ago
Quite light for Côte-Rôtie. Smart and sophisticated with just enough red fruit to play along with the savory, umami character. Medium tannins and acidity and with plenty of remaining longevity. — 10 years ago
Victim to experiment. 85 percent Mourvedre, balance is grenache. Thick. Poured like tar into the glass. Nose of wildflowers and oateal raisin cookie. Entry is inky, thick purple and black fruit dominated. Tame acidity. Nutmeg. Spice. Plum mingles in the middle. Finishes sweet, black pepper, and a surprising amount of dry tannin. Sweet and chalky powerful finish. Don't think I would have pegged this for a 15 as this has so many characteristics of both a young and an older CDP. I cringe to know where this will be in 5 to 10 years. — 6 years ago
Sweet Madura tobacco and mocha with a touch of tar, dark roast coffee, prime rib, iron pan, luxardo cherry, cedar bark, toasted marshmallow in this autumnally aromatic feast of perfumes. Spicy and lean into dense graphite and dark chocolate, blueberry, cassis, smoky raisin, baked plum, blackberry and pomegranate reduction. Violets for miles with a rich sloe-berry and burnt sugar cookie finish. #williamfèvre #carmenère #espino #chilewineday #chile #wine #redwine #svs #singlevineyard #grancuvée #mountainwine #mountainfruit — 7 years ago
Licorice and cookie spice on the nose. Prominent fruit up front, blackberry, with a long finish. Would imagine that this should age well, if you have the patience and discipline. — 8 years ago
@David A Lentine @Gina Sabean @Christine You know that you are drinking GREAT wines when you can say that a Realm Beckstoffer To Kalon came in last. I love this producer beyond measure!! Every wine they make is a hit. Everyone tonight agreed that drank by itself it would have been amazing. However, it still needs a few years to open up and spread its wings!! All of my bottles were decanted for 8 hours today, I began formulating thus rodeo of a lineup around 11am. The Realm had huge dark fruit but too many rough edges in comparison to the others. In all honesty, these are so good that we are splitting hairs but alas they must be ranked and that is how the Cookie Crumbled this evening. — 9 years ago
13' Matthiasson Michael Mara. 12.9 % ALC. The weight of this wine & depth is something unique for a California chard...except with a Matthiasson. Sugar cookie batter, peach, crushed rock, pronounced acidity. It's so unusual… after you swallow it the acidity washes clean , except for the front of your tongue, you can still taste that peach/ almonds😋 I think drinking this at cellar temperature, if not even a little warmer is best. — 9 years ago
