Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Another visit to this lovely wine and another confirmation that 2008 was a great vintage and most probably one of the best value vintages in the last decade in Bordeaux. The wine is rich, round, elegant and smooth, already ready for drinking, with earthy notes, coffee, black current, wild berries, full round body, lovely tannins, elegant long finish. A pleasure. My score 91, drink to 2025 — 9 years ago

06' Kelham Vineyards Sons Red Blend. Keeping my eyes on this winery. I had a couple of these Kelham last week at the "Taste of Oakville". Current release ? They set this wine down just shy of 10 years before releasing it! Looking forward to trying the 2007 this fall 😉. — 10 years ago

2003, Lovely wine, new world in style, rich intense and lavish. Deep garnet color, tempting nose of licorice, black cherries, leather, wet soil, chocolate, black rip plums, full body with well integrated rich round tannins, lovely acidity that is quit surprising for the extra warm vintage, long delicious dry yet ripe finish. A truly delightful wine, that is underrated in my humble opinion. My score 90+, drink to 2018, perhaps even longer. — 11 years ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1966

Celebrating that we just got our power back on after Irma so had to open one of my favorite Bordeaux for current drinking. Stunning aromatics of black fruits & cassis with a perfume of tarry, camphor, licorice spice, soy, black olive & violet. On the palate you get this core of sweet black fruits that is rich & full bodied. I have consumed more than 6 cases of this wine in the last 5 years and most every btl has been an awesome experience. — 9 years ago

Completely agreeable. A very nice weekday wine at $18. Blueberry on the nose and cherry/current on the palate. Soft tannins. Moderate finish. Not terribly complex. Very good #QPR (As a total aside, I feel very bad for my friends in Ontario who need to fork out $50! for this!) — 10 years ago

I like this stuff. Soft tannins? I normally find this as quite gnarly and rugged. Your thoughts @TheSkip?

@Ron R lol! Which 3 states? 🙃 I am in Maine and I order online. I found tannins in this not too bad. Perhaps I misinterpreted though and should have said structured and supple. I checked on one of the Ontario wine newsletters and her TN described it as such. I am still trying to learn and understand more about tannin structure, so take what I say with a grain of salt 😳😳 Have you tried the isosceles?

The more I drink 2012 Napa the more I realize that I should stock this vintage , quite robust yet still elegant. This CS has a deep dark color, lovely enchanting nose of black current, coffee, after eight and a light touch if spice, full body with firm tannins, that needed a bit of decanting to open up, a long delicious dry finish. I would wait a couple of years before approaching. My score 89, drink 2017-2027 — 10 years ago

Terry Leighton is the winemaker and is quite an interesting character. Terry marches to his own drum when it comes to making and releasing his wines. His 95 Chardonnay is his current release. How many wine producers are willing to hold their wines and forgo revenue until they believe they are truly ready to enjoy?Almost none! Terry does not filter his Chardonnay. The 95 is; macerated apples, pear, quince, a touch of ripe pineapple and has just a hint of a raisinated quality. Rich lush mouthfeel, nice balance and near perfect acidity. — 11 years ago
