Vigna Cicogna Greco di Tufo 2019

ESF
9.2

Don’t see it as often as I’d like, but I almost always pick up a Greco and always enjoy it! Florals florals florals, fresh garden, wet stones, orchard fruit - quite complex and this is best at cellar temp. Silky sensuous on palate, gorgeous body w/nice heft & balanced integrated acidity. Really strutted thru finish. Would like to revisit in 5 yrs — 2 months ago

Excellent wine, elegant but strong taste with a light finish.
Little of rhubarb and berries, almost no tanin.
Very easy and light to drink. Wow!
The Bovio 2013 regular would have been rougher and stronger.

Vigna Martina Barbera d'Alba 2016

Popped and poured; consumed over a few hours. The 2016 Barbera "Vigna Martina" is deep, dark ruby with an almost impenetrable core. More than ample in the fruit department with all the dark berries. However, it's got enough of the non-fruits: the inorganic earth, purple flowers, some herbs and spices, to leave one in no doubt of its origin. This is certainly one of the more polished versions of Barbera. As for longevity, even at 6 years post vintage, this seemed fairly primary. That being said and based off my experiences with Barbera in this category, I expect the secondary characteristics of leather to begin emerging in the next couple of years. Tasty now and should continue to reward through 2030. — 8 months ago

Vigna Rocca Secco Albana di Romagna 2021

So good! Kind of orange wine. Center is orange color. Slight oak. A bit sweet, slight tannic and spices from grape skin. Balanced sweetness and sourness. First one of orange wine I feel good. Marmalade. Vigna rocca albana secco 21 @3400, Dmar JH, 231008-231021 — 8 months ago

Podere Rocche dei Manzoni

Vigna d'la Roul Barolo Nebbiolo 2007

Medium deep ruby , quite young looking . Some dry , wood spice at first then raspberry, red cherry . Quite sweet on the palate , cherry , touch of anis and mint . Quite rich and generous , firm gritty tannins , touch of alcohol warmth noticeable . Good balanced acidity . Showing pretty young still , s bit rustic in style , showing the warmth of the vintage . Needs a bit more time , better in 3–5 years and will last well a further 5-8 — 9 months ago

This was a pleasant surprise - it was in great shape. The aged components were accents rather than dominating. So happy compared to some past 2010 openings. — 4 months ago

Guido Porro

Vigna S. Caterina Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

The “V.S. Caterina” is a single vineyard located in the southern most portion of the Lazzarito MGA, in Serralunga d’Alba. This is considered a monopole of sorts since Guido Porro is the sole producer from this vineyard. Geographically speaking, the holdings are ideal with great southwestern exposure, located close to the village of Lazzarito and right next to Vietti’s holdings.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over a period that lasted a couple of hours. The 2015 pours a bright, reflective ruby color with some hits of garnet towards the rim and a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, ripe cherries, strawberries, loads of roses, dried green herbs, and gravely earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. Superb balance. I didn’t buy many 2015’s from Barolo or Barbaresco because I didn’t really like them on release and they didn’t seem to have structure to carry the day. And while the latter may yet be true for extended aging, the 2015’s have been strutting their stuff over the last year, showing off all their solar glory. Drink now and over the next 7 years with ease.

Vigna Rionda Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Popped and poured, the 2019 “Vigna Rionda” pours a brilliant garnet color with medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fresh red cherries, forest strawberries, tar, some red flowers, some light baking spices. One the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is dry and finishes with a flourish. A baby and yet this is drinking well right now (as many 2019’s are). Drink now with patience so you can enjoy the ride but I expect this will drink well for the next 15+ years. — 7 months ago
