Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

2011 vintage. Not the best vintage nor the longest-lived. Drinking pretty decently currently. Would I want to slide-tackle this in a decade? No. In the next 5 years? Yes. Plenty of love aboard the ship now. 2.28.24. — 2 days ago

Vinous says this is “full throttle”. It’s mellowed a lot.

Rancho Chimiles Vineyard Pétillant Naturel Valdiguié

Pretty much a perfect pet nat.
Light salmon pink hue
Aromas of dried roses, strawberries, and watermelon that also come through in the palate — with yeasty, earthy effervescence.
I drank this 2 years ago and still think about it…

Papera Ranch Heritage Russian River Valley Red Blend 2021

RRV has never been one of my favorite Zin regions, but an old vineyard like this trumps that. Even at this young age the nose is lively, with deep spicy blackberry fruit and gravelly earth notes. intense and quite structured on the palate, with full body and nice acids. I’m drinking it way too young. It will age beautifully. 9.32 right now, likely higher in a few years. — 2 months ago
