Another epic Fichots from Girard. Deep deep mid to late season cherry and glorious spice. Wow the fruit in 22 is so aromatically expressive at the moment. Just gorgeous. Stunning palate with deep deep fruit but also those fierce Fichot tannins. Juicy, silky and sweet but structured and epic. Wow the tannins. This needs mega air but this is a monumental Fichots. Tasting today and still a beast but has that absurd 22 fruit. I’d wait a decade at least. — 5 months ago

Killer nose that is deep and resonant. Unreal dark red cherries that border on black. Such purity. Just stunning. Nose is airy and so deep. Sick. Better aromas than 19 Narbantons. Blueberry, flowers, so lush, so deep. Just wonderful. 9.6 nose. Palate has insane energy and just absurd fruit. Sapid, energetic and so concentrated. Wow this is so good. The depth is off the charts and the tannins cut like a saber but remain velvety and sweet. What a wine. Stunning depth and freshness and red/blue/black fruits. My god the tannins on 23 Girards are stunning. This is a remarkable year for Girard. Unreal wine. — 6 months ago

N: lovely cherry fruit. A hint of sweet cherry licorice. As it opens beautifully savory. A gorgeous hint of Blood.

P: sweet cherries. Dense. Good balance. Juicy. Great spice. As it opens, more integrated and savory.

Nose: the most beautiful smoke. Cherries. A gorgeous herbal aspect. Cherry flowers. More savory as it opens. So precise it’s utterly penetrating.

Palate: so bright and fresh and clean. The purest cherry juice. A mineral cherry stream. Changes every 15 minutes. Elegant licorice. Cherry silk. Wow.

Terrific nose with some framing oak that will blow off with air. Deep cherry, some dark red cherry, mineral, earth, spice and some florals. Huge palate impact with gorgeous fruit. Unreal fruit and buffered by very good acidity and a fine, slippery texture. Just terrific fruit clarity and precision with lovely spice that echoes on the finish. Some mint and menthol coming in on the nose but this needs more air. Will be back. Really wonderful finesse here as well. As this airs the fruit gets silkier and sweeter. 23 more and more reminding me of 19 once it gets proper aeration. — 7 months ago

22’s having a moment now. This has glorious texture and mouthfeel and just takes over your palate with clear fruit and lovely spice. Out of the gates it’s raging. We will see if it closes up. As this opened the nose had dizzying spice and gorgeous, clear black cherry fruit. Unreal fruit density and sapidity. So close to a 9.5. — a month ago

Big, brambly nose with lots of red cherries, mid season sour cherries, earth and mineral. Really clean and evocative. Palate is juicy and so precise. Very clean and a lovely mineral/fruit wash on the finish. Great depth, freshness and terrific concentration. Not elegant but this wine never is. It has such impact for little $$. Nice, ripe tannins and serious structure. This is always best at 5 years old. — 7 months ago
