Vieilles Vignes Brouilly Gamay 2022

Brouilly, to me, is the fruitiest of the crus, and this is fruit in spades. So tangy and fruity. A bit of barnyard funk on the nose adds complexity. Very zingy and fruity in the mouth. Downright tangy!

UPDATE: After a couple hours of air, this is getting funkier and funkier. Clearly a low- or no-sulfite wine. I Vacuvin-ed a bit to see whether it will even be drinkable on night 2. My guess is it won’t be.

I visited Lapalu once when a few of us spent a day tagging along with Eric Texier to his favorite Beaujolais producers!!

Montchoisy Morgon Gamay 2019

Clear, pale ruby in color. On the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of blackberries, raspberries, violets, and smoke. On the palate, it's dry with high acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of cherry, pomegranate, asphalt, and earth with a long finish. This wine is intense, a little out of balance (needs to breathe or age), and complex. Overall, I would rate this wine as very good. — a month ago
