Engaging with notes of cherry and olives. A bit simple with short finish but very accessible wine. Opened and poured after about 15 minutes of air — 7 years ago
Nose of plums, forest floor with fresh fallen flower petals. Taste is of plums, black tea, Forest, raspberry, mushroom. I really like this. Opened up after an hour of pulling cork and really excellent after 2+. — 7 years ago
Slightly brown robe. Lovely nose and palate of an aged burgundy— enough fruit to really enjoy as a pre-dinner wine. — 11 years ago
Another delicious #rarecreature from the Forlorn Hope wine folks @Matthew Rorick This reminds me of a Cabernet Franc meets a Pinot Noir, purple floral and stone aromatics, with juicy fresh raspberry, cherry, a touch of savory and spice. #stlaurent — 11 years ago
Complex nose with dark fruit, cocoa, and graphite...palate is lush with plum, spice, and a touch of smoke. Generous tannins lengthen the finish...a classic CdP. — 11 years ago
09s have been hit or miss for me but man, when they're on, they're on. This is a great example of why: open and dominated by sappy red fruit, wide and giving. — 11 years ago
Mag of the oldest aligote vines in the world. From magnum — 13 years ago
Ruby red color with a watery rim. Hint of large game blood, wet earth, and fresh dark cherries on the scent. Ripe dark fruit up front, sweet almost; followed by stern tannings and a dry finish. A young wine, medium body, almost light alcohol but with lots of character yet easy drinking. Unassuming wine, extremely enjoyable. One of those, great all-around, Southern Rhône blends... — 7 years ago

The first audible of the night was this stunning 2015 Hubert Lignier M-S-D 1er VV that John pulled out in between the Rabbit and Beef courses. Full disclosure, I get twitterpated when a bottle of H. Lignier gets opened. There’s just something in the style that’s mesmerizing across the range, from the Passetoutgrain to the Clos de la Roche. These are wines of power and grace. Well fruited but with layers of complexity. John considers this to be the best value of H. Lignier’s offerings. Hard to argue. — 7 years ago
Perfect summer red. Nice acidity and a touch of Brett. Great summer red — 8 years ago
First Cruse of the season, delish — 9 years ago
Beautiful pale salmon pink color with very fine, persistent, fast bubbles. Gentile strawberry and mineral nose. Crisp and dry with creamy bubbles and wonderful, fresh acidity. Soft flavors of red currant and strawberry. Finish finish is long, crisp and elegant. — 10 years ago
2006 here. Really nice Chambolle with all the red crunchy fruit and gentle spice. — 11 years ago
Mineral and airy. Structured and ripe. Touch of oak tannin but so pure. Excellent. — 12 years ago
a nice light dry red...plenty of berry fruit and earthy flavors — 13 years ago
Gorgeous out of the gates. Perfect elegant nose. Hard to describe. As it aerates gets more complex. Beeswax? Hay?
The palate is equally perfect. Dense with controlled richness. Like peach sorbet. Just covers the palate with elegant yum. Sorry if that’s a bit colloquial. Nicely mineral. Long finish. Super clean fruit. Not sure if this makes sense but one of the cleanest Rhône whites I’ve ever had. Very restrained for a northern Rhône wine.

Nose of hay, earth, vanilla, cherry, iron. Profound and complex. The palate is long and wide with cherry along a strong acid backbone. Silky touch on the sides. An oaky thing happening in there too. Strong persistence of the vanilla and cherry for an everlasting finish. What a village! — 8 years ago
Pounded on the porch. This was super today. Hazy...almost the color of white peach juice...bright berry fruit. Gone in 10 minutes — 9 years ago
Aroma jumps out of the glass and the 2012 already shows developing notes of mushrooms with strong floral notes, some sweet spice. Strong smooth tannins and sufficient alcohol to age well. Nice spices. Drink in 5 years. — 11 years ago
Juicy, bit of tang, earthy, long. Great juice — 11 years ago
This got better and better as it opened up. Lovely stuff. — 13 years ago
