Aromas & Flavors
Nose: lifted aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant, plum, and blackberry, laced with herbal notes, tobacco leaf, and subtle spice.
Palate: generous layers of dark fruits, cassis, herbs, and a touch of savory earthiness, supported by ripe, velvety tannins and a structured frame.

Verdict
A standout Pessac-Léognan from an exceptional vintage — complex, elegant, and age-worthy, yet already a pleasure to drink. A wine that bridges power and finesse beautifully.

1990: This bottle given to me by Gaston Huet when I visited him in 1996, so no importation or pregnancy warning stickers to obscure the contents. Amber color revealing the level of botrytis in this vintage, since the wine was absolutely fresh. Creme bruleé nose. Silky mouthfeel, with explosions of fruit, ranging from baked apples, hints of vanilla, quince jelly and raisins. Long, long pleasing finish which is a fitting tribute to one of the true heroes of winemaking. Sublime. — 10 years ago

Pop and pour. A splendid light straw color. On the nose: subtle notes of lemon, grass, Asian pear, brioche. Taste: lean, chalky wine with lemon, grapefruit, minerals, and a sour lime finish. Works with all the fresh fish tonight. — 2 months ago
