Château Du Prieur

Frederic Esmonin

Clos Prieur Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2023

Not really memorable. No formal notes. Typically I like this producer as he is still reasonable in price. But this rendition did not convince. — 5 days ago

Picked up two cases worth of 2023 1/2 bottles from this producer last week...one case of Gevrey Champonnet, and 6 btls apiece of Gevrey Estournelles and Gevrey Lavaut/St. Jacques. Pricing was, as you said, reasonable, and, unless mistaken, 1er Cru juice.

Truncated dinner party notes. So good. Definitely Meursault. Nowhere else. Nice balance too. — 5 months ago

Amazing still drinking so fresh and lively at this age for this class! — 6 months ago

Clos Prieur Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

Either better bottle or aging helped. Much better compared to the bottle i tried in 2019. No formal notes. But i would say drink up. 20 years is enough. — 2 months ago

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1959

A slightly stinky nose with some serious fruit. Plum and tangy blue notes. Clear and lifted with dried rose, some dried orange, hints of iodine and great clarity still. Given its age, very good. — 5 months ago

Domaine Jacques Prieur

Les Combettes Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

No formal notes . This is a youthful colour , straw , light lemon yellow . Took some time to open and benefitted from decanting . Quite mineral with some pure citrus and slightly buttery note . On the palate this shows some round citrus fruits , nice creamy texture but the acidity is vibrant with mineral touches on the finish, really well balanced. Starts to open and change in the glass , young still and will still show well for the next 5-10 years perhaps . This was the best match for most of the courses at Frog by Adam Handling , creative and delicious cuisine I can thoroughly recommend if you are in London. — 2 months ago

A little farmyardy on opening, but still some pleasure in this forgotten oldie from the cellar when it opened up… — 6 months ago
