Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine. — 5 years ago
Spicy, liquorice plums, wrapped up in cedar wood. Very long finish. Top notch. — 9 years ago

Probably my favorite and, in my mind, the most consistent Spanish wine out there. A deep dark plum color in the glass. The nose absolutely shines with cedar and plenty of spice. There’s a bit of smoke here along with cherry cola and a little more spice. Dried herbs and chocolate round things out.
A preponderance of Tempranillo with a nice chunk of Garnacha in the blend. Obviously still so young but readily approachable and enjoyable now. The extended aging makes a world of difference with this wine vintage in and vintage out. Rich and full of personality, this is a beautiful wine that’s just going to continue to grow with age. — 8 months ago
Cedar, vanilla, cassis, blackberry, toast, nice acid. Very soft tannins, nice time to drink. — a year ago
This is the second bottle of ‘87 Faustino I’ve had and it was equally as impressive as the first. The tannins have fully softened with time and presents forth an unambiguous profile of strawberry, red liquorice, cedar and dirt. This is damn tasty. — 5 years ago
Wonderful! Enjoyed this delicious wine with beef spiedini and pasta with fresh tomatoes. — 6 years ago
Very interesting wine showing black currants and red plummy fruits, mocha, cedar, fruit cake and a hint of vanilla. This is round, rich and has a creamy texture. — 9 years ago
Wood (cedar), plum, tobacco. Pure ecstasy. — 9 years ago
This is high up on the totem pole, and it shows on all senses. The nose is complicated and dense, which then leads into a rich variety of notes such as tobacco, cedar, coffee and cherries. While it seems to have already evolved into its drinking window, powerful tannins and good acidity provide the hallmarks of a wine that will hold its own for a long time. — 8 months ago
Celebrating with a couple nice wines tonight
2 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). An imposing dark magenta color. On the nose: very aromatic with dark cherry, currants, herbaceous, smokey earth, floral, pencil shavings. Taste: soft, silky, dry tannin wine with black fruit, pencil lead, cedar, tar, crushed rock, and a minerally mocha dry medium plus finish. YUM! More time to go. — 9 months ago
Medium to full bodied, dense and very good structure, black currants, earth, tobacco, graphite and cedar with hints of espresso and a silky smooth finish with soft tannins. — 5 years ago
Very smooth — 8 years ago
This is really coming along nicely since I first had it in 08. Smooth. The secondary cedar and tobacco are staring to come in. Good balance and structure. — 9 years ago
Drinking very well- still youthful. Gravel, rocks, cedar, pencil lead, soft. — 10 years ago
Delectable Wine

The 2016 Palmer is a brilliant wine from Thomas Duroux, though I feel it will ultimately be surpassed by the 2018. You cannot argue with the nose: intense black cherries and raspberry fruit, crushed violets and crème de cassis (as if there was a touch of Pauillac in there). The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, sensual tannins, perfect acidity, velvet smooth with layers of chocolate-tinged black fruit, hints of black pepper and cedar towards the sustained finish. It is a fabulous Palmer that will give much pleasure. Tasted at the Palmer vertical at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2023)
