So good. Black fruit. Violets. Graphite raspberry blueberry. — 3 years ago
Pop and pour. A majestic dark garnet color. On the nose: dark fruit, currants, forest floor, spearment, some blueberries, floral. Taste: smooth, creamy, elegant, structured wine with dark berries, creme de cassis, cedar, minerals, vanilla, and a blueberry chocolate long finish. YUM..drink em. — 4 years ago

Berry. Blueberry. Slight jammy. Nice color. Little boozy — 5 years ago
Nose of mushroom and compost, leather, tar, vanilla and blackberry pie. Spicy on the tongue, with almost bitter cherry and blueberry skin. Dark chocolate and mocha strike on the mid palate with minerality to finish. Plush yet elegant. Drank side by side with ‘09 - prefer the ‘10. Alcohol stays in balance on this vintage, subtle oak notes show to finish. Drink now with a splash decant. — 5 years ago
Last time I had this wine was a little over two years ago. In that period of time, it has aged nicely. Blueberry and wildflowers on the nose. This bottle was a stand-in to the one that I wanted to try on my 40th birthday that was acting a little bit weird. Nothing weird about this one. Palate of blackberry, black cherry, cassis, blueberry, cinnamon baking spice. A little bit of chocolate, a little bit of leather. Black pepper to the finish. What a nice wine, and from the "bastardized" 2011 vintage to boot! Drink or hold. — 7 years ago
Deep ruby with medium intensity. Black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, ripe black plum, black pepper, licorice, vanilla, leather. Full-bodied with high tannins and vibrant acidity. Opens beautifully with an hour or longer decant. Long finish with lingering spice. Overall good, and I’m sure this wine will improve with time.

As one can expect for a Dave Phinney wine, this is rich and ripe, but it has so much more to offer at year 14. Blueberry, fig, tobacco, cracked pepper, dried mushroom, and slight hint of barnyard. On the palate it’s juicy yet soft and ultra smooth. The finish is long, candied, and earthy.
My 2nd and last bottle. At its peak. — 2 years ago
Had a bottle 6 mos ago, just opened another. I just love the Gnarly Dudes, very enjoyable! Deep and dark purple color with aromas of fresh berry fruits with spicy notes. On the palate flavors of rich ripe fruits, plum and blueberry with fine tannins and vivid acidity to complement, with notes of cacao, toasty oak, vanilla and black pepper on a long finish ending with fruit and spice character. Nice!! — 4 years ago
Absolute perfection! Firm, intense and concentrated, massive yet well-proportioned, with a dense, focused core of graphite, dried currant, blackberry, black tea, forest floor and blueberry flavors. Full-blown, finishing with rich, layered tannins that beg for cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. — 5 years ago
Dark purple with a magenta rim. Staining color. Opens up with several hours of air. Smoked meat, blueberry, and sea breeze. Bold, bruding dark fruit. Espresso, and mocha too. Savory finish with chewy tannins. Has big time scores, but feels like it is closed at this time. Hmm... perhaps hold for 5+ years. — 6 years ago

Second wine of this estate located on the southern edge of Saint-Julien, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, adding notes of cedar and earth. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe blueberry fruit with tobacco, oak and spice. Fine grippy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and wet earthy notes. Should continue to improve over next 5-6 years. — 2 years ago
Deep Ruby, aged for 18 months in French oak, about 25% new, aromas of red and blue fruits with spice and earthy scents. On the palate flavors of plum, cherry and blueberry with some spice and cacao. This full-body wine had velvety smooth tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy character. — 4 years ago
After a very busy weekend, we sat around the table eating leftovers. Hard to see a Kosta Browne being a complement to “leftovers” but it was wonderful. Light red:purple color with strawberry and blueberry on the nose and some slight earth tones coming through the palate. This feels and tastes like a Russian River Valley Pinot but softer. Definitely worth having again. . . And again. — 4 years ago

Blueberry, bloody meat, fig on the nose. Great concentration and length. Tannins does well integrated. Finish is superb. Great stuff maybe missing slight bit of secondary notes. — 6 years ago

Medium ruby garnet , narrow garnet rim . Quite deep spicy tobacco , cassis , redcurrant , grafite , smoky herbal notes on the nose. On the palate this is quite restrained and elegant , with a mix of red and dark fruits , cassis , blueberry , red currant , touch of menthol also . Good refreshing acidity and slightly gritty tannins , good length with grafite and tobacco stained finish . This is showing well and is probably at peak at the moment , no rush as it will stay here for another 8-10 years or so . — 7 months ago
