On the nose are aromas of eucalyptus, sage, desert plants, and a wee hint of raspberry... On the palate, finally the cherry comes through in a savory way but bright... Raspberry... Pie crust... Some sage here too... Leather. Tannin is of a soft shape but the mouthfeel can be quite chewy like ballpark bubble gum... An interesting finish again evoking leather and some pepper as well. — 10 months ago
On the nose, this is stewed raspberry... On the palate, raspberry, rhubarb, cherry, and beet greens... Medium body and the tannins are quite soft... Pepper in the finish... This feels quite simple, but the peppery finish is actually quite nice. Value. — a year ago
Really, an earthy nose here... Cherry, yes... But in a way that I'd characterize as savory black forest cake if it was made of compost instead of sweet chocolate... On the palate, the dominant note I think would be graphite, but with the fuzzy tannins in there, it's not in a precise sense... A dull pencil in need of sharpening? At this point I'd probably need to also describe some green here... Green pepper? Tomato plant? Going back to the nose, I get the aroma now too... Gardening... This wine isn't lightweight... A sausage dish is I think where I'd go as far as pairing as there's some acidity here that could be useful for taming fat. We had this one paired with a flank steak, but really I might go to a fattier cowboy steak next time. The longer I enjoy this wine, the longer the finish seems to get... These tannins are a heck of a drug... With every sip, I actually want to savor more and more... A viscious cycle... — 7 days ago
On the nose, this is has some funk of alcohol and a nice cherry aroma... Smoke. On the palate, this tastes more like cranberry with all the sourness that entails... Lip smacking at first... Some pepper coming through... A touch on the acid side... A satisfying medium finish with again some pepper. — 10 months ago
A new wine spritzer in a can from Sage Hayward Vineyard on Saturna Island, BC... On the nose, this is all strawberry to me with a savory slant... On the palate, the strawberry tastes more green and pickled to me than of the fresh variety... Simple profile, but hey, this is for summertime fun. The alcohol level feels less to me than the 6.2% labeled... Dangerous! :) Some masculine packaging for a wine spritzer handy for subversive (but hopefully not mutinous) consumption on the ferry car deck! — a year ago
Big floral and lemon nose. The nose makes be think that this will be tart and zippy. On the palate, this is more restrained though... The lemon aroma turns to lime flavor... Mineral... There's some acidity to be sure, but less than I was expecting from the nose... This settles in nicely. Round body. Not chewy, but substantial. Medium finish. Almost orange. — a month ago
On the nose, this is cherry and blueberry... On the palate the cherry is concentrated... The blueberry is also there... Savory, fatty... The tanning here is medium and chewy... The bright, fruity finish is just medium but the tannin lingers long... I quite like this tannin effect here. I paired this with crackers and an aged Gouda, but really I think this could have paired with a variety of foods. Decent acidity to hold its own against a variety of foods as long as they're kept simple. — 2 months ago
On the nose, this is red cherry and raspberry... On the palate, this is that red cherry and seems precisely so... Rock not dirt... Low volume though... Smooth. Not as complex as I thought with the first sip in hindsight. Medium length. — 10 months ago
On the nose, this is blackberry and violets. On the palate, this evokes a blackberry liqueur with Dutch licorice presenting right at the entry... Some bark too, but not in a dirty way. Lumber mill. This wine is not rustic at all but more savory in a classy dinner party way. The tannins are not the show here either but rather provide a soft bed for all that blackberry... The floral goes all the way from the nose through to the finish with a medium length. In our area this was a great, great value that I'll keep an eye out for! — a year ago

On the nose, there is sweet cherry to be sure... Cherry brandy... A mossy, earthy note... Savory mushroom... Yup, we're in the woods... But warm... On the palate, some more green emerges perhaps... Still extremely savory though... Buttery pastry... Cherry is incredibly concentrated... Tannin is fluffy... Medium-short finish... Reading the label, I thought this would pair well with our strong-flavored barbeque, but it paired best with our beef and barley soup appetizer... I think if you could pair with something that includes filo pastry, it would do even better... — 4 days ago
