Quintessence de Peybonhomme Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Solid Bordeaux and a great wine at the price point. Blackberry, cherry, cassis, earth, cacao and a bit of tobacco, spice and green peppercorn. Half for the short rib, half for me — 8 days ago

Côtes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Plum fest on the nose… nice tannins for a Merlot based Bordeaux. For the price this is a great value. Very classic (more ripe) taste of Bordeaux. — 21 days ago

Château de Bernon

Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. This estate is on a high ever since Kevin Labatut took over (his first vintage was 2015). A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Ripe, round and spicy. Great value. — 6 days ago

Château Loumède

Premières Côtes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

1986 vintage. Château Loumède, Premières Côtes de Blaye. What a nice surprise! Merlot Noir 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 35% et Côt Rouge (Malbec) in the commune of Sainte-Luce. Opens up nicely after an hour with delicate aromas of tobacco and leather. A fresh and elegant light-weight with good length. A pleasure to drink. Abv. 12,5%. — 2 days ago

Le Blanc Bonhomme Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

2019 vintage. Blaye. Biodynamically farmed. A blend of Sauvignon 45%, Sémillon 45% and Colombard 10%. Light golden. White stone fruit and honey. Very ripe and round, I can see why they've added the Colombard this year (usually it's 50/50 Sauvignon/Sémillon).A wise decision to add acidity to the blend, in order to keep the fatness in check. Well-done and as usual one of the best whites in Blaye. — 12 days ago

Château Roc de Cambes

Côtes de Bourg Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Brought to tasting group and presented double-blind. The 2012 Roc de Cambes pours a deep garnet with moderate staining of the tears. There is a little bit of sediment sticking to the side of the glass. Medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is high intensity. It smells like a leather shop with stewed mixed fruits: figs, dates, a little cow pie, tootsie roll, violets, fresh potting soil, herbs, and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is dry and medium+ across the board. Desiccated fruit with raspberries folding into the aforementioned fruit. Some pyrazines and mushrooms with organic earth. Long finish. A gorgeous wine! My second of three and better than my first bottle from four years ago. Drinking well now and I expect it to do so over the next ten years. — 16 days ago
