Pale to mid yellow in colour. The wine was a little cold to begin with. Aromas of talc and lime marmalade, dried flowers - a faint paraffin note - No Kerosene or petrol (TDN). A beautiful aged Riesling from the Clare Valley from Petaluma - a long time favourite producer of Riesling. With air and warming up, some yellow peach notes developing. I see HH said this benefits from decanting which I didn’t do. Drinking at its peak. Sadly my last 2012. — 3 years ago
Color of burgundy, clear. Nose of aldehyde, flowering note, spice, a bit prune, and dried plum. Nose is clean and plenty. Taste follows the nose with addition of sweetness, like ripe grapes, grapefruit zest, some of plum, and some more bittersweet note. Aftertaste is medium long with warmth in the throat and rind note. Pretty good! — 5 years ago
This took a little bit of coaxing to come out. It was very reluctant.
Originally in the decanter for 4 hours. Then Decanted twice more and put through the aerator twice.
Raisins, Pastry, biscuit, brioche, vanilla, cloves, nutmeg, coconut, chocolate, coffee, fig, prune, cooked blackberry, dried raspberry, cooked black plum, tar, forest floor, earthy, tobacco, game, vegetal, wet leaves, savoury, meaty.
Dry, medium plus acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium plus intensity, medium body, medium plus finish.
Outstanding quality

Clear straw yellow color. Apple lemon pear nose,. High acidity, pear lemon mineral flavor with a medium finish. Highly recommend! — 7 years ago
The acidity is like a punch in the face - in a good way! Very dry with a bit of sunny currant. — 8 years ago
Very smooth light Cab, slight velvety overtones with a berry finish — 9 years ago
Nice bottle. Tobacco notes open up to lovely delicate red fruit. Cherry, strawberry. Perhaps a touch heavy on the alcohol. Great acid. — 11 years ago
Has a bit of elegance to it and can work well with food. — 12 years ago
The Rutherford Hill Napa Merlot (2021) reveals a deep ruby core with subtle garnet reflections, suggesting youthful vibrancy with potential for short-term development. The nose is precise and layered, offering blackberry and raspberry fruit interwoven with cedar nuances, indicative of measured oak influence.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with light acidity that enlivens the fruit profile while maintaining balance.
Tannins are fine-grained and unobtrusive, supporting a bright structural framework that lends clarity and poise.
The finish is clean and persistent, marked by freshness rather than weight, making this a versatile companion to dishes such as roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or semi-hard cheeses. — 8 months ago
From mag. 14.5% abv so it seems like the style used to be a bit riper than more recently. But it’s gorgeous. Big boisterous nose of blackberry, black currant, cinnamon, cedar and dried herbs. Very structured still, youthful even with beautiful dark fruit and fine tannins. — 4 years ago
Color of purple with ruby hue. Quite clear and nice legs. Nose of dark fruits, dried strawberry, aldehyde, oily and crayon, a bit smoky, and fragrance is refined. Taste follows the nose with addition of grapefruit sweetness, strawberry vanilla, zest, mineral, minty, simply quite tasty. Second sip shows some more zest and peppery. Good flavors. Aftertaste shows some more ripe grape and a bit too much bitterness. But still a good one. — 5 years ago
Black cherry, plum, and hint of spice and pepper. Starts off semi-sweet when paired with chocolate, but turns smoky and semi-sour when paired with a filet. — 7 years ago
Ok. Not the easiest vintage in SONOMA. You’d never know it. Seamless, complex aromas of sweet tobacco and blackberry and herb and soil. Started with a little oxidation but woke up to deliver its message of power Zin. — 7 years ago

Wow, just got this Pinot from Whetstone. This is seriously good. Nose is earthy and with a big, dense fruit rush. Legs are long, but you don't get that true alcohol taste. My Riedel Som Pinot glass is brimming with a dark, almost eggplant color...every swirl releases a wonderful aroma. Just beautiful. — 9 years ago
Aging nicely. When I tried this one a few years ago, I did not care for it, but today this one rocks. 2007 still has lots of fruits left. Delicious. — 11 years ago
Slight vanilla and crisp smell. Some pear too. Taste has some bitter and sour notes but malactic makes it a little smoother. Minerally. Better with food. Had butter garlic clams. — 13 years ago
Decant and pour(little sediment). A beautiful deep ruby red. On the nose: dark red fruit, floral, tobacco leaf, potting soil, vanilla toast. Taste: chalky, restrained old school style(13.5 alc) wine with blackberry, cedar, currants, pepper, earth, and a long dry finish with some dusty tannins. YUM! — 10 months ago

One of the best. Favorite vineyard. Always perfectly balanced and exactly what we’re looking for in a Pinot. — 3 years ago

Really enjoying this wine. Very drinkable. Don’t know anything about Monastrell but would definitely drink more. For a $15 wine, this is great QPR! Drink this all day! — 7 years ago
This is a wonderful wine - one of the best field blends I’ve had, really. There’s an impression of wild raspberries and boysenberries on the front end, backed by a layer of mildly peppery spice, and presented in a medium-bodied frame. The tannins are mostly resolved and the finish is clean and just a touch sweet. This was ready to go with minimal air.
This is only my second or third Bucklin and I’m becoming a big fan. — 8 years ago

Silky. Mostly Merlot. Blackberry and a hint of dry earth. Well made and mouthwatering. — 10 years ago
One of the best Napa Chards. Ripe, with melon and creme brûlée. Nice oak integration. A really good Chard. — 11 years ago
Warm spice and oak. Soft crumbly tannins, bright fresh fruit and a great complimenting acid. Very solid. — 11 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
A Fav! Medium+ lemon color with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral, cedar, biscuits and citrus. On the palate flavors of apple, pear & ripe apricot with citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty toasty oak notes, rich with creamy tones. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit and integrated creamy oak. Nice! — 7 months ago
