Outstanding - tastes like NSG/Gevrey blend. Quite dark. Dark fruit with a touch of cherry and a raspberry aftertaste. Cloves. Plenty of minerals. Very well managed tannins. This would be 80-100$ if it would be a Burgh. Bought only 2 bottles to sample the wine but will buy this in the future. Very Burgundian. Second time for me tasting this wine and I'm still impressed by the complexity. So many layers of different aromas. Very impressive. On the palate its a totally differential approach than all the GGs I tasted before. Much rounder, softer with pure elegance and a super, super subtle power. This Sankt Nikolaus plays in a totally different league. Kühn told us that he wants to do a different wine out of the grape variety than the other producers. Like the Tements do in Austria with their Sauvignon Blancs he said. — 10 years ago

Gosh, I just love aged German Riesling, sweeter the better, though this Spatlese works — faint petrol aromas, but also very floral with some faint apricot and peach, great balance/acidity on palate, medium-long finish, very fine, if not quite outstanding, just lovely!! — 6 years ago

Very different. A 2013 German Sauvignon Blanc. It’s minerally bordering on salty. Fruit creeps in after 1/2 hour. Probably needs more time. Certainly at the top end of SBs. Went very well with Raclette. — 9 years ago

The condition of the bottle was remarkable - the wine was fresh and crisp, like the day it was bottled. Bright with a tinge of green, no signs of TDN at all. Only the mellowed acidity gave any indication of age. Insane!

Despite all that, the wine itself was rather disappointing. Not really complex or deep, and finish was quite short. I guess it did come from a tough vintage. However, it had the classic Grunhaus lightness - drinking more like a kabi than spat. In conclusion, an easy fun drink that fell below expectations. — 7 years ago

2012v. Petrol and wax on the nose. On the palette, there's a wash of sweet yellow apple and tangy lemon lime. Slight petrol on the finish but it's a clean ending. Slightly sweet, decent acidity, and a nice body in the mouth makes for a versatile and easy drinking wine. — 9 years ago
