25 year anniversary of this wine. I have been a Peter Franus fan for a long time. This zin is medium ruby, black and white pepper, clove, cedar, red cherry, vanilla on the nose--the wood is definitely pushing through, but not overpowering. On the palate, more blue/black fruit emerges, blackberry mainly. Tannins still pretty dry, alcohol high. I think this can rest even longer but it's great now too. Awesome!!!

Purchased from Marion Hotel and Cellars near Adelaide, we enjoyed this in American River on Kangaroo Island. This full-bodied Shiraz evolved beautifully over the evening, revealing layers of dark berries, pepper, tobacco, Australian bark and earth, and a hint of anise, with a spicy finish. Balanced and complex, it earned full bonus points for how much we enjoyed it. A great wine, albeit with a screw cap. — 6 months ago

1hr+ decant and could have used more. Dark red color. Interesting nose with metallic, medicinal tones that tingled my nose. Wine has massive strawberry and cassis; and is sweeter than I was expecting. Very concentrated. Purchased at Henschke in 1989 (my first and only visit) and shipped home via a now-defunct import/shipping company in Alameda, California (I also bought some 1986 Mt.
