It’s no CdP but a respectable #GSM blend, a little more assertive on spice than smooth fruit. — 6 years ago
Delightful to drink. Rich, almost spicy, but in no way overbearing. Given to me by a friend, so I toasted her and her health and good fortune. — 7 years ago
Delicious, very drinkable off-dry reisling. Paired with a summer salad. — 8 years ago
Not sure is this is identified correctly, but age is certainly a friend of this wine. On the nose, we detect kirsch and candied cherries.
The palette, while rich, is not as flamboyant as it was in its youth. Black stone fruits meld with anise and a hint of cloves. Finishes dense and a touch sweet. Wifey rated this as 93 pts. Who am I to argue.

This has greatly improved since my last bottle several years ago. Dark cherry, cedar, florals. Long and delicious finish. Several years ago, a friend told me the best wine with truffles was old Bordeaux. That was news to me as I always chose Barolo or Burgundy. I’m now a convert. — 5 years ago

Last bottle in the cellar of this vintage and almost regret opening on a burger night except, got to enjoy with a good friend. I'd give this a top ten wines I've ever had rating. Perhaps top 5. Drinking beautifully with subtle fruit and smooth silky feel. This wine was amazing...epic — 9 years ago

Hello old friend. It’s been a while. Delicious as always. — 6 years ago
I enjoy this red blend more than most and will continue to have a bottle on hand as it makes me happy. Not good enough? See other, longer, reviews if you want adjectives. Alternatively, buy a bottle and try it for yourself and share with a friend at a party. It’s a fan favorite for-a-reason. And that reason doesn’t have the word “berry” or “legs” or “mocha” — 7 years ago
2 years on and this lovely blend has melted into a seamless, thoroughly enjoyable delight.
Perfect match with Chinese food at the local all you can eat restaurant. — 8 years ago
Dinner contribution by a friend. Why? Because we need to drink it! A bold dusty expression of terroir. Bold dark fruit aromatics. Soft tannins. Dustiness speaks of terroir not flaws. Elegant and evolves after time in the decanter. Continues to open after 1.5 hours in the decanter. Good thing he has more... I want more... I need more!!!! What a true pleasure in a glass Thank you!!! — 8 years ago
An old friend of mine having been the first bottle of 1st growth claret that I sampled , sometime during 1999. Decent colour lightening at the edges but no more than that. Classic cedar and black currant , touch of truffle perhaps. Not hugely complex though automatically interesting at least. The fruit is quite cool and restrained though there is balance to the tannins and acidity. Decent length too. Overall and enjoyable wine though lacking the complexity and depth of a better vintage — 9 years ago

First course. Vegetable soup that has a chicken broth/red wine/port base.
Also, working with 2nd course, pumpkin spaetzle with squash, brown butter, parmesan, sage & crispy brussels sprouts.
Beautiful poached strawberries & cherries with fresh & slightly candied, bright dark & red florals.
Great soup & spaetzle from our friend Chef Hedy! Find her @plateandbottle
