This red blend from Orin Swift is always enjoyable. Showing black fruits, licorice, wood, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, light earth and coffee.

Full bodied with medium acidity, rich and expressive.

Nice finish with round tannins (after 2 hours) and tangy cherries.

This 6 year old is a little over the top, and probably not for everyone. I used to enjoy this much more a few years ago, actually.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient.

A good wine to drink by itself and a great party wine.

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah.

15.7% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$35.

Such a smooth wine! Very fruit forward with smooth tannins. I would have never thought that the abv was 15.2%. Will go deliciously with my steak tonight! It’s been a rough week so this will really be nice.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, chocolates, tobacco, cola, espresso, spice box, cinnamon, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, spices, earth, vanilla, licorice, cloves, light vegetables, alcohol, cola, cinnamon and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a wonderful Grenache blend from the house of Orin Swift. Fruity, big, rich, spicy and interesting.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (1 hour). After 3 hours in the decanter, the nose really opened up, so be patient with this young wine.

Needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine by the porch or with friends.

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Aged in French oak barrels for 8 months (30% new).

15.1% alcohol by volume.

The 2016 'Abstract' is an intense blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah, which was aged for 10 months in 35% new French oak prior to bottling. This begins with aromatics of milk chocolate, sagebrush, black tea and black olive all soaring from the glass. On the palate the texture impresses, as the wine glides effortlessly leaving behing flavors of black tea, blackberry jam, and mocha which persist through the extremely long finish. Drink 2019-2025- 93

Some progress here... Why is it that the ladies like to paint? I dunno but I’ll take it.
Really enjoyed this bottle. I’m sure the DL snobs will scoff, but we care not.
Wifey rating.

History of OFC dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah blend. Aromas of fresh ripe red fruits with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, cacao and espresso notes with sweet savory tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with toasty oak and sweet fruit.

Would be better in a year or two.

Just a big ol’ inky jelly jar. Ripe fig and plum, rhubarb and tannins on the back end.

Massive, dominating spice and tannins. Nose yields new oak which only comes through slightly on the palate. Robitussin flavor falls apart fast. Mellows outconsiderably with decanting. Interesting wine
