A slight deviation in the Burgundy region - off to Richebourg, Grand Cru no less!
Sommelier recommended producer ($$$$$) an excellent choice.
Tasting notes: Sweet, candy scent upon opening (caramel/fudge) then quickly revealed a fruit structure - sweet red fruits and cinnamon sticks (we are making it sound like a dessert wine but that came next 😋) — 4 months ago

Pairs well with their pretzel sticks. Very light with hints of white and young green grapes. — 9 months ago
Skin contact from Oregon, blend of Italian grapes, almost pink in color. Great with or without food. — 3 years ago
Two words come to mind when tasting this standout of a bottle: “apricots” and “finish.” Tasting notes may be subjective, to say the least, but this deep red beauty brings to mind the brighter stonefuits like apricots and nectarines. Don’t let the full body and enticing nose fool you, this wine has a bit of punchiness to it, and trust me you’re gonna love it. The longer finish you’ll find with Freakshow is exactly as desired, this wine gently sticks square on the top of the tongue. To whom would I recommend Freakshow’s Cabernet of damn near any vintage? Well, frankly, everyone. But if you’re looking to impress that date and the only thing you know about their wine preference is simply the word “red,” then do both of you a favor and grab this bottle. — 4 years ago
Three Sticks always sets the tone for a sunny afternoon—even one with a nip in the air. Beautiful color, bright fruits. Delicious. — 5 years ago
Pale lemon color with aromas of white fruits, citrus, nutty and flinty scents, aged in concrete and stainless for 9 months. On the palate flavors of apple, peach, pear and orange floral citrus, cinnamon notes, well balanced with acidity. Medium+ finish ending with nutty toasty biscuit spice, mineral and citrus notes. Will age a bit. — 7 months ago
A little green in flavor (as in unripe), too acidic, but had some elements of tropical fruit, just not full and ripe. Has potential but not the best. — 2 years ago
Less fruit and brightness than a few years back, but still offers an enjoyable way to start a meal — 3 years ago
Vintage 2017 - Tasting beautifully right now. Fine pedigree fruit balanced by great acid holding it together for the long term. By far perennially one of the best bottlings in the Three Stocks portfolio. Tasted April 2022. — 4 years ago
Cherry, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, currant and oak. Light-bodied and soft tannins. — 5 years ago
2023 vintage. Last tasted 3.11.26 (9.0). Chards I’ve historically had from this vineyard have trending towards a medium-heavy body in a richer, sumptuous style. This one does not and you can actually taste the distinctiveness of site and place vs wading through all the cosmetics. This visit was so much better than the previous one 6 weeks ago. Jekyll and Hyde indeed. 4.22.26. — 2 months ago
Excellent !!! Will definitely buy again — 7 months ago
A bit dry and lacking in the usual layers of flavor. Thinner than others — 9 months ago
My first Standish from the cellar. After raving reviews from amongst others the WA, bought some at relative low prices (v.s. the 96+ish ratings across their range).
This is young but full of potential. I'd give these 10 years of cellar time based on this bottle, but you can definitely drink this now. It is modernly made with ripe and rounded tannins. It has a very compact core that reminds me of how SQN wines are made, but then with the Australian flavor profile. It is almost too seamless / polished, so that it is coming across as flat on first sight. Nothing sticks out. But with air more and more layers come to play. It just needs more time.
95+ for now with 98ish potential in a few years.
The 2022's just came out with 98-100 scores. I guess it is time to stock these up before prices begin to soar.

NOSE:cassis, black cherry, leather, both baking spices and savoury herbs (like nutmeg and bay leaf). Plum and mulberry. Nutty vanilla. Smells like proper, grown-up wine - though not especially heavy.
TASTE: initially very good. Dry, bitter cassis, cherry, herbs, medium weight with nice velvety mouthfeel - but not a lot of the other fruit from the nose (more air improved). Tannins bring a long, dry, bitter finish - sticks on the tongue- burnt-plant. There’s a bitter herbaceousness that is almost like straight cassis berries (which I have in my backyard, so speaking from experience) - very elegant in its way. Went very well with steak and smoothed out with air, the dark fruit became more prominent...I think a long decant is in order. Many different impressions here … real stuff. 91-92. — 4 years ago

Classic California Chardonnay. Great balance between oak and fruit. Vanilla and white fruit. — 8 days ago
