Stunning and utterly singular. The nose is intensely mineral and almost impossible to categorize, with desiccated leaves, yellow fruit, green banana, plantain, wheat field, stones and crushed rock. The palate is opulent but incisive, with tremendous concentration, density and chew, almost carrying the structural energy of a red wine while remaining remarkably alive and fresh. The fruit is difficult to identify in any conventional way, which is part of the fascination, and the inner-mouth aromatics are thrilling. The finish is long, mineral and deeply resonant, with this uncanny honeycomb character, not honey itself, but almost the greatest ice-cream cone imaginable without the ice cream. Ripe strawberries, rhubarb, slate, and maybe a little blood orange on the nose. Color is a deep, pale red, almost showing the bricking but this isn’t nearly old enough for that. Hues of violet to the edges with a medium body, though thinner than i expected. Smooth, less juicy and more dry, with notes of raspberry, menthol, a bit of iron and herb, but with some dusty tannins laid on top. — 6 months ago

This beautiful cab dominant blend (15% merlot) promises to be one of their best vintages in a long while. Dark fruits with a depth of flavor uncharacteristic for an only slightly big medium-bodied wine. Playfully spicy with a good tannic core. This got better each day over a 5 day timeframe. サンジョベーゼらしい上品な甘美さはあまりなく、味わいも香りも平面的。
