Sharp Cellars

Domaine A. et P. de Villaine

Bouzeron Aligoté 2021

Yellow apple nose, crisp, with sharp grassy notes, apricot, white flower, walnut and a prominent minerality and a slight creamy undertone. Gold-Yellow color, though not amber, with hints of green towards the edges. Sharp acidity and minerality on the palate, dry, with prominent apricots, Meyer lemon, slight vegetal notes, with a lingering, nutty finish. — 3 months ago

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2020

The 2020 Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is a thrilling effort. The nose uncovers rasor sharp aromas of lemon oil, oystershells, green and yellow apple, pear, pastry, white peach and traces of flawlessly integrated oak. The wine's broad shoulders and remarkable flavor concentration are balanced by an almost electrically charged acidity. This is both a hedonistic as well as an intellectual Les Clos from Fèvre with guaranteed aging potential. Drink now until 2050. — 2 years ago

La Closerie Les Béguines Extra Brut Champagne Pinot Meunier

LC 12. So sharp and angular, citrus, high acidity, and bright red fruit - May have even guessed Rosé if I were blindfolded. I loved it but it may not be for everyone. — 3 years ago

Anjou Chenin Blanc 2021

Pale straw with a particularly vivacious nose. You’re greeted with aromas of umami and wet stones. There’s plenty of floral notes here, along with green apples and a faint touch of vanilla.

Clean, precise, and linear. This is a delicious Chenin Blanc. The key here is the acid that runs throughout. Sharp and contemplative while remaining generous. The palate is fresh and direct with citrus and minerality. Outstanding.

Clos des Briords Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie Melon de Bourgogne 2017

A tad riper than expected with more yellow fruits on the foreground. Further very muscadet with a lactic touch and good minerality. Acids are there but not razory sharp. — 3 years ago

Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Meursault Chardonnay 2000

Light straw gold. Killer Coche nose. Notes of lemon, petroleum jelly, crushed stone, apricot and tan spice. Sharp acidity, with suitable fruit and weight to build the overall experience. A great village wine that is just finding its groove at age 20. — 3 years ago
