Over the top heaviness, if that’s your thing. — 3 months ago
The oak has integrated from my previous note in February 2017 where the influence of oak Barriques was overly present. Sangiovese is not enhanced by too much oak in my opinion and is best matured in large Botti like I said in my previous note like Biondi Santi. Red cherry and earth notes finishing with powdery tannins. Coming together. — 4 months ago

Really nice wine to enjoy with friends on a birthday. Went well with the homemade chocolate Grenache cake which was fantastic. Plenty of tannins which Improve with aeration. — a year ago
One of the best wines for the price. — 13 years ago
solaia 2004. leather and plum. probably would’ve been an even higher rating if i wasn’t congested. paired with lamb chops and osso buco — 2 months ago
Wine was delicious. Not harsh and no after taste or heartburn. Sweet but not too sweet. — 3 months ago
Paolo Bea dinner at Semo. All wines were prepared by opening and slow-ox, prior to service. Abbreviated notes due to the setting. The 2017 Pipparello pours a garnet color with funky Montmorency cherry, red carnations, and balsamic notes. Wonderful structure and delicious with the quail. Drink now with patience through 2037. 2020 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 15 mins and 2 hours. Medium/medium-heavy body (as usual) first sampling. Meaty (but not beefy) with dark plum as backup/the club bouncer. Slightly chunky but eminently drinkable. Ff two hours and the body thinned out slightly with the club bouncer’s shift over. Dark plum gonzo and cola + Luxardo cherry now driving the party bus. Not quite as structured as the massive 2019 or as precious as the 2018. This is in a great spot now, if you must, and should be an absolute delight in 5-10 years. 3.6.25. — 3 months ago

Nice wine, well rounded and fruity, good taste — 4 months ago
This bottle was opened several hours prior to dinner. The 2001 Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe Morello cherry, red flowers, leather, black tea, and a lovely mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, slightly savory and super complex. A textbook Brunello Riserva that leans on the more elegant side of the spectrum. A fabulous pairing with lombo di agnello. Drink now with patience through 2041. — 5 months ago
Cracked the 2010. Still young but really good. Not shut down or reticent like other reviews I read. Epic Sangiovese. — 9 years ago
