Marin County Pinot Noir Rosé

Pomegranate and raspberry gelato. Dry and delicious. Long finish. One of the better CA Rosés I’ve had this year. — 8 days ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Happy Labor Day. The wine I have chosen is the 2010 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saratoga, CA a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, nlack currant, green bell pepper, vanilla, smokey oak, spice and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, woody oak, black pepper, spice, herbs and dark earth.

This wine is full bodied well integrated and balanced with medium+ acidity and medium+ firm mouthcoating sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit oak driven earthy finish. This wine still has a long way to go and a loy of pleasure to give. I hope everyone's weekend has been enjoyable. With the new week ahead please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Horseshoe Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

This was elegant and really fine. Flowers, spices and pepper, anise, in a medium length and polished presentation. No rush but is really excellent now. — 5 days ago

Evangelho Vineyard Mourvedre 2020

Hand bottled this mag for son’s first bday. I always thought this vineyard hit a sort of aromatic peak in its first year of life before quieting down a little. Explosive nose, juicy, raw tannin, delicious. — 13 days ago

Homestead Block Roussanne 2018

Very nice, needs a bit more bottle time, guessing November, though completely drinkable now.

A chill in the air, a tangine of quail with preserved lemon & green olives, and a nice crackling fire, paired with the brightness and texture the 2018 Roussanne would be most proper. Or, something like that:)

Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

Perfumed nose of bramble fruit, cherry, cedar, tomato leaf, hint of dark chocolate, white pepper. Beautiful and light on its fit at mid palate. Ends in a lingering finish. Great stuff. — 7 days ago

Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Chardonnay 2011

Salty, tense, poweful core of yellow fruit, just enough mid-palate breadth to offer balance to the salty acidity. Great showing albeit young, very PMR in character — 13 days ago

A tasting of nine Rhys Pinot Noirs from the 2008 & 2009 vintages. Jeff Brinkman, Rhys winemaker joined our group. In magnum. Found this less interesting than the others — a month ago

Fellom Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Hands-down one of the best California Cabernet I’ve had in a very, very long time. I remember tasting with Arnot and Roberts a few years ago in New York at a trade tasting and being bowled over by how typical their syrah was to a Saint Joseph, but with this gorgeously fresh fruit.. Quite frankly to me what put CA wine on the map in the first place.

This Cabernet showed everything I like about great Cabernet. It was powerful, it was seductive, it was rich but balanced and fresh and showed all the classic hallmarks that the grape is known for. The slightest note of pyrazine folded in perfectly with the cassis, black cherry, and currant fruits. The palate had energy and complexity, generosity and a super long finish.

Sometimes real treats show up in the endless parade of wine samples. In addition to their current releases, the folks at @kathrynkennedywinery sent along this library release, and…. Wow. This wine is aging beautifully. Gorgeous texture with fantastic cherry, cedar, and forest floor notes shot through with a smoked meat umami character that is positively mouthwatering. I brought this over to a dedicated Bordeaux lover’s house for dinner, and he said it was the best CA wine he’d ever had. ⁣ — 13 days ago
