Finishing leftovers from Saturday. I have posted this previously and was not impressed per the level of white flowers on the palate.
This bottle same vintage is so much better, softer profile on the WF! Not sure why. 🤷♀️
Just wanted to present a fair rating; post 2 bottles of good vs. 1 bad. — 4 years ago

This shot is for @Norman Gennaro.
So here’s the deal... wifey and I have a small place, which means that we can’t build a room with a cellar - we just don’t have the real estate. So, working with @Mo Salem, our cellar needed to be an integral part of our living space. We’re doing something similar below our stairs. Keep you posted on that.
Let’s turn to this stunning SB. Aromas of grapefruit and slate on the nose. Palate is flinty and honied. Perfect acidity and weight on the mid-palate. It’s exuberant all the way to the finish. $22!!! 😀 — 5 years ago
I could not resist popping this 99 RP point Grenache @ €177 of which there are 2,468 bottles, well 2,467 now 😁 Always taking one for the community 😉 Great already but can’t wait to try in 10 years time 😍 This wine personifies the meaning of elegance & purity in a wine! It’s like a fine Pinot Noir but in Grenache 😎 The best Grenache I’ve ever had 👏

Really diving into this collection head on. Greg on its own accord but would be highly beneficial as a cocktail ingredient. — 7 years ago
If you have not had this producer of Shiraz from Barossa, you are missing out on some special wines from very old vines. In the case of “The Relic” 100 year old vines. We walked the Standish Estate vines w/ Dan in April 2017. They yield a paltry 500 pounds of fruit per acre. Normally, very high quality wine are around 2,00-2,500 pounds of fruit per acre. So, his wines are from small concentrated berries.
You won’t find his wines in the US except on the secondary markets. He doesn’t have or need a US importer as he sells everything he makes through his mailing list. However, worth seeking out. Also, his wines need to age and you can find them this old. I have numerous times.
Dan started out in Barossa and then gathered much of winemaking knowledge working his way through Europe for several producers and a majority of them in France.
When he returned to Australia, he became the Winemaker at Torbreck before starting “The Standish Wine Company.”
I’ve posted several of his wines with detailed notes and will let them speak here. Cheers!

This was definitely on the sweeter side but in a good way. I hope to get another bottle soon — 6 years ago
Notes of coffee and cranberry. Absolutely wonderful. Not as full bodied as a zin but still great. — 4 years ago
Well rounded, with fruits and spice as the main accord. — 4 years ago
Lafon Rochet 2005
Moment. Excellent accord avec le boeuf Wellington. — 4 years ago
Very nice Bordeaux. Medium bodied, dry, moderate tannins. Will decant the next one. Robert Parker has a good description for this vintage posted here, though the flavors he references are a baskin Robbins buffet. I’m not picking up all that, but enjoyable nonetheless. — 6 years ago

Lovely to see all the elements in this integrate over the three hours we enjoyed it. Beautiful accord of juicy Sangiovese fruit, light tannin, acid. Mid is youthful & juicy but the finish is ethereal. Drinking nicely with a long decant — 3 years ago
