Can drink now but I think this has quite a few years left in it.

Dark ruby in color with a brick rim.

Fruity on the nose with cola, blackberries, figs, cherries, vanilla, cocoa, espresso and light black pepper.

Bone dry on the palate with cherries, red currants, vanilla, pencil lead, blackberries, blueberries, cloves, chocolate, licorice, Cola and light white pepper.

Full bodied and elegant with nice legs and medium acidity.

Medium finish with soft tannins, black pepper and cherries.

What a nice and enjoyable left bank Bordeaux. Nicely balanced, and needs time to open up properly. Good age for a while but it is drinking very well right now.

Aged in oak barrels for 18 months.

91 points Robert Parker.

Nothing to this wine, which is not surprising for Bordeaux at this price point. A tart finish without any fore or midpalate fruit. Really liked the storng tobacco of the 2005. Didn't like the 2006 at all. Oddly, after being open a day, did improve a touch but still not great.

Old World Bordeaux...and nothing wrong with that. (Twenty-four hours in brings some pleasurable added dimensions but still not enough to warrant extra points.)

Dark garnet with thin edges and a ruby undertones. A 13 year old Bordeaux with proper storage and for less than $50? I’ll take it. Highly expressive nose of black cherries, plums, cedar, and lavender. Previous vintages of this have been much softer, much more feminine. The 2006 has a bit of brawn to it. The Cabernet provides really nice structure and the tannins are firm. The palate bursts with ripe cherries, new leather, creme de cassis, and dry earth. Medium finish with cedar and spice. A really fun Bordeaux.

Very nice Bordeaux. Medium bodied, dry, moderate tannins. Will decant the next one. Robert Parker has a good description for this vintage posted here, though the flavors he references are a baskin Robbins buffet. I’m not picking up all that, but enjoyable nonetheless.
