Rombauer Vineyards

Carneros Chardonnay 2024

Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 4 months ago

Stony Hill

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2011

This wine is testimony to great California Chardonnay that is also rare in style. No oak not malolactic fermentation. Hence the longevity. This 2011 is showing a bit of age with a deeper straw color than previous bottles from the same year. Still, only a hint of oxidation in the glass and on the nose. The pear and quince have evolved to a bit of caramel and butterscotch. Delicious to drink and I admit this might be the upper limit. I will drink remaining 2012 and 13’s in the next few months. — 4 months ago

La Caña

Rías Baixas Albariño 2023

This was my first Albariño, and I loved it! Bright, fresh acidity with lemon and pear notes on the palate. The finish has mineral notes coming through as well. Paired nicely with paella. Vintage was 2023. — 23 days ago

Roero Arneis 2024

This is dangerously good. The peach and pear flavors are vibrant and just mesmerizing, and it has a nice minerality and good acidity that help balance the flavors out. If you don’t watch yourself, this bottle will be empty in a flash. This is just what I needed to remind me that summer is around the corner, and soon this New England winter will be a distant memory. — 2 months ago

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego it is! And now I’m thinking I’d like to explore more Arneis wines. Need some more fun white wines to enjoy.

@Joel Lara The vibe I’ve been getting lately (last 3 mos) is that peeps wanna (occasionally) drink past the usual Sauvie B, Chard/white Burg/bubbles options. Riesling is still the bastard stepchild as are any derivatives/associates. White Rhônes, Arneis, Albariño and a few others seriously solicting interest.

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego Interesting! Any suggestions for white Rhônes or Albarinos? I’ve never had either but would like to explore. I haven’t been drinking much whites lately except for sparklers the last few years. I was exploring Chablis and Assyrtiko a few years back and really liked them, but just fell off my radar for some reason.
