Huge nose of plum, lavender, strawberry jam, raspberry jam, vanilla, almond extract, and cranberry. Big red fruit on the palate of dark cherry, fresh raspberry, cranberry, as well as black tea, licorice, menthol, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, leather, white pepper, sage, oak, and blackberry. Medium plus tannins, high alcohol, and high acid. — 5 years ago

Woodsy and violet bright fruit and currant and dried cherry on the nose l. Classic zing in the center or the palate. Exquisitely smooth and elegant and with a bouncy tannin.. Warm deep finish. — 7 years ago
Founded in 1956 by Michele and Giuseppina Chiarlo. Son of over 7 generations of wine growers, and a leading figure in Piedmont viticultural industry. Aromas of fresh sweet dark berry fruits & minty herb notes. Cherry, plum and minty flavors, some licorice, cola and cacao, well balanced with defined tannins. Complex lingering finish ending with nice earthy notes. Still has years to run. — 8 years ago
Citrusy pear, almondy, deliciously refreshing — 11 years ago
Across the board, complex at every turn. Although this showed some age, having been harvested I've 16 years earlier, this monster is still gripping with significant aroma of dried rose, earth & pencil shavings. Slight aldehydic notes on the finish, loads of tannin, high alcohol, acidity, complexity & length. Could probably still cautiously age another 5-10 years. — 12 years ago

Outstanding Bolgheri Rosso. Delicious fruit, but earthy and spice from Shyrah makes a difference. Full bodied and dusty tannins. One of the best QPR in Bolgheri. — 7 years ago

Just a little different but still familiar. Easy to drink. Paired nicely with pizza.

— 11 years ago
Sicilian wine from the base of Mount Etna. 95% Nerello Mascalese, 5% Nerello Cappuccio. Soft but chalky, earthy, more low tones, herbaceous but not too much. Medium body, slight rhubarb, but again- not in the way wines can be when they are too young to drink. Really lovely wine. Apparently, the winery is no longer making wine due to lack of interest from the family heirs. — 12 years ago

Amarone, nothing else to say... — 6 years ago
Really good Bolgheri, great value. Refined and nicely arrayed palate of cocoa, chocolates and dark red fruit. The Syrah adds some oomph and structure. A yummy candied cherry quality and grippy tannins suggest additional cellar time could be rewarded. — 7 years ago
Old school rustic Italian, quite dark fruited, salty. Medium body. Very tannic on the back end, very structured wine. Substantial acid. Needs a couple hours of air to come together and show properly. Pair with 🍝 for a pretty pretty good time. // turns into something special on day 2 — 8 years ago

Pale ruby color with elegant legs. Complex developed aromas of mushroom, wet earth, dried cherries, currants, and violets. Similar flavors, with silky vanilla and notes of tobacco. A medium + finish. — 12 years ago
