The 2021 Riesling Poet's Leap is decidedly green in character, wafting up with notes of lychee, lime zest and crushed green apple. This flows across the palate with grace, displaying a pleasant inner sweetness, as tropical citrus and saline-minerals add a lovely tension throughout. This tapers off with young mango notes accentuated by a salty flourish through the long and crisply refreshing finale. I am amazed that sitting with this wine this weekend actually showed better than from a 1.5L several years ago. Glorious in all of its unctuous splendor, the 2003 Chateau Coutet is one of the great wines made this vintage. The balance mid-palate is incredible, as is the unctuous texture. Rich vanilla creme brulee, butterscotch and roasted pineapple tones combine with minerals, and sour mango on the palate. With serious weight and verve, this is really singing now at the seventeen year mark and will continue to provide drinking enjoyment at least for another decade. Drink 2020-2032- 96 — 6 years ago

I started drinking this Viognier about 10 years ago and it brings back all the memories! It tastes much sweeter now than it did then (when I drank Moscato on the regular) but it's still pleasant and enjoyable. Lots of peach and honeysuckle on the nose, on the palate more stone fruit, pear, and some tropical fruit like mango and pineapple, low acid and a nice fruity finish that dissipates quickly. It's nostalgic for me and I sure do like taking that trip down memory lane! — 6 years ago
