Boom! From the first sip - this wine was explosive and delicious.
Dark and black fruits come out and then lend to some red fruit and while it has good depth, this wine is very smooth.
Seems like it’s in the drinking window — a year ago
Dry-Farmed, a bit of Cabernet Franc in mix, aged 20 months in mostly neutral French oak barrels. Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits, herbs and floral spice. On the palate flavors of ripe black cherry, raspberry and cassis with espresso, cinnamon and earthy spice notes. Well balanced, lively acidity, fine tannins, long ending with fruit, cacao and tobacco spice! Nice! — a year ago
What fun. This wine trounced a much more expensive Bordeaux this evening. Drinking perfectly and fully displayed its boysenberry, chocolate and Asian spice notes. Drink now or whenever it seems well in hand for another decade. — a year ago
Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine. — 7 years ago
One of the best wines I have ever tasted. — 9 years ago
Not quite as sensational as our bottle in February due to storage differences. Cooked fruit of; rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries, dusty crush stones, leather, dark vanilla barrel toast, black earth and pebbles, black tea, hint of mushroom. Finishes soft and elegant with just a touch of funk. Hope you all enjoyed Christmas!!! — 10 years ago
Dark cherry, blackberry, with a little pepper. The splash of Malbec removes the fruit forward. — a year ago
Leather and spice up front, with a trace of dill that softens into dark cherry after an hour in the decanter. — a year ago
Decant for sediment (lots of chunky/fine sediment) and pour. A stunning medium ruby red color with little signs of aging. On the nose: big inviting notes of dark fruit/currants, worn leather, herbaceous, smoked meat, funky earth, menthol. Taste: silky, evolved, expressive structure with brambly plum, currants, old leather, dark chocolate, graphite, and a black raspberry-iron-dried herb long finish. YUM! It's what's you want in an aged Napa cab, and glad to have just acquired 3 more bottles. — a year ago

Waiting a long time on this one. Brought back from Chile in 2005. Not a huge cab fan but this is impressive. We’ll structured and complex. Tobacco, black pepper, dark cherry, caramel apple, spice and almost a tawny port finish and color. — 5 years ago
Dark purple in the decanter. Smooth and spicy, rich and complex. — 10 years ago
Color me impressed, the nose on the 2012 Opus One was simply stunning. Fresh floral tones of violet and lavender gave way to ripe dark-red fruits and subtle hints of baking spice. It enveloped the senses with silky textures which seem to come in vibrant waves, carrying crushed berry and black currant. It finished back on a floral note, which was offset by cherry pit and hints of sweet spice. The best part, is that it should only get better with age. — 11 years ago
Decant and pour. A splendid dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: inviting aeromatics jump from the glass with dark cherry jam, graphite, herbaceous, vanilla oak, floral. Taste: blackberry/black cherry, crushed stone ,tar, spice, and a medium plus tannic kick me wine. Like to try again in a few years. — a year ago

I think if you read this nonsense I post, you know how I feel about this producer, past & present. This 07 is outstanding & top of its bell curve. It is so good to revisit these great vintages of Caymus Classic.
This is fresher than the 97. It is rich/lush, cassis to currents, ripe, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, raspberries & strawberries. Dark chocolate, mocha, classic, beautiful, Caymus Classic spice that I miss dearly in their new wines, black licorice, fudge, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg & vanillin, most top soil, limestone, dry herbs, dry tobacco, barrel shavings, taut leather, volcanic grey clay, dark, fresh & slightly withering flowers, violets, beautiful round acidity, balance, structure, nice tension and elegant finish that last minutes and falls on spice and evoluted earth tones.
This bottle is in fine shape. Still strong and will last another 10 years of fine drinking. Phenomenal vintage and time to enjoy. — a year ago
Excellent excellent. Decanted for two hours before being consumed and then enjoyed over next 3+. Weighty and very heady. Dark rich fruit aged but not dusty. I feel this wine is in the zone. — a year ago
Dark Ruby. Lovely aromatics, violets, roses, flower garden that blossomed into a nice layered flavor trove of chocolate dipped cherry and toasted cinnamon stick. Perfect compliment to a NY Strip. — 7 years ago
Smells "classy" with ripe plums, dark berries set amongst some high quality cedar oak and a touch of floral and greenery coming through too. Quite plush on the palate, with the structural components well integrated, it's just about good to go now but will do well in the cellar too. The sort of wine that would appeal to the majority. — 10 years ago
