Delivers in a big way for a #chianticlassico #chianti Starts off with simple red fruits and medium(+) acidity and a medium finish but, as it opens up, you get chocolate Touches and perfume from the merlot and Cabernet that go into the #sangiovese blend — 6 years ago

My last 2011 bottle. The estate of Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past the village of San Giustino Valdarno. Crognolo, aged in French Allier barriques, deep red with red fruit aromas and sweet perfumed spice. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, gentle spice and soft tannins with great mouthfeel. Good balance, lingering finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Aged well. — 8 years ago
Smooth and lush with raspberries, cherries, violets, hints of cedar, and a velvety finish. Fruitier than I expected from Italy but I like fruit so that's good for me. — 9 years ago

Really tasty. Much softer and fruit forward than I expected. Tasted fantastic alone and could have stood up to any hearty meal. I'd buy this again in a minute and serve it proudly - it will easily please those that enjoy new and old world alike. — 11 years ago
Great pairing with Italian. Light to drink with heavy sauces in pasta dishes — 12 years ago
Reason this is a consistent 90pt wine, it's very good. Bouquet is a dusty, peppery bowl of dark cherry. Taste is bright fruit, peppery, dark berry, a bit chewy and leathery. Great with a spicy Italian dish and Sinatra in the background ! — 12 years ago
This is a steady performer. Packs a punch, definitely in the greater years. Quite modern. On day three (!) it showed it's stuff. — 12 years ago
A lot of life left in this — 5 years ago
Baking spices, dried flowers, and leather on the nose. It might “only be” a Chianti Classico, but when when you have a quality producer, their whole range can shine and at 23years, this wine is in a great spot. Dried cherries and plums in the palate with some spice notes. Beautiful wine! — 6 years ago
Black underripe cherry. Herb, lilac. Evolves in the glass. — 9 years ago
Spectacular... balanced and still young. See you in 5 years — 9 years ago
Strong red fruit character meets a acidity & firm tannins. Absolutely okay to open a bottle if you have some more in the cellar. If not, be patient. — 11 years ago
Opened a 2011 this evening. Good nose. Very smooth. Perfect with a grilled chicken salad. — 11 years ago

Older bottles of Chianti are some of the wine world’s unknown treasures. Everyone is happy to age Brunello but you don’t see many people putting away Chianti in the cellar. And they’re missing out. If you can find old bottles you can sometimes get them for a song, as I did a bunch of these from @garagiste_wine. You want to talk about punching above your weight?!? These suckers are classy AF. Dark fruit with leather, a touch of graphite and earth. Great acidity still, decant and watch them shine. 1996 Terreno “Riserva” Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy. — 5 years ago
Just an outstanding bottle. Solid core of dried cherry and black plum fruit. Showing great balance and nuance, with a softening texture and secondary flavors coming through. Everything you could want in a Chianti Classico normale and drinking brilliantly now. Bravo! — 6 years ago
This wine was excellent. It was strong in smell but incredibly drinkable. It was very complex and different. It gave us a nice feel as well. Highly recommend. — 8 years ago
So beautifully aromatic and soft textured. 100% Sangiovese. Elegant af. Im in love with this Chianti — 9 years ago
Had this wine in their vineyard in Greve in Chianti at a tasting. Best wine tour in Tuscany. Wine outstanding example Chianti — 11 years ago
2011 vintage on April 17 2015. Agree with comments about a great everyday chianti Classico as your house chianti. Dry but beats down the cheese in a pizza in a good way. — 11 years ago
Everything I want in a Chianti and perfect with tonight's mushroom pizza. — 12 years ago
