14.5% essentially a California fruit bomb in French clothing. They are really loosing it the French. Cherry over the top. May be this will loose its fruit over time. Now I am not impressed especially vis-a-vis the 2019 Liaison Enderle & Moll. May be this had to be done with the high taxes imposed in the Trump era. — 5 years ago
Lovely rich, chocolaty, malty flavors. Tastes like a nut brown ale, a Guinness and porter had a liaison with a barley wine. A great winter warmer beer. — 9 years ago
Herbal shapeshifter. I think this one needs some time. Drink the Liaison now. — 10 years ago
Denis Dubourdieu “Liaison” Bordeaux Blanc 2023
Graves, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
Created by the legendary Denis Dubourdieu—a pioneer in transforming dry white Bordeaux—Liaison is a thoughtfully balanced blend (50/50) of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Born in the gravel-rich terroir of Graves, this wine showcases both citrus-driven freshness and textural elegance. A smart entry point for exploring Graves whites.

Aromas & Flavors
Expressive citrus and orchard aromas—expect white peach, green apple, lemon zest—brightened by fresh herbal and mineral undercurrents. The palate carries delicate salinity and flinty complexity.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied and crisp, with vibrant acidity balanced by a subtle weight from Sémillon’s richness. The texture is refined and gently savory, finishing clean and poised.

Winemaking Notes
Dubourdieu was an innovator in crafting modern dry whites from Bordeaux. While specifics for Liaison 2023 aren’t public, it reflects his legacy of organic practices and skin-contact experimentation that elevated white Bordeaux.

Food Pairing
Brilliant with oysters, grilled white fish, light poultry, or creamy vegetable dishes. Its bright acidity and texture make it a versatile pairing wine.
Verdict
A vibrant and classically styled Graves white—Liaison 2023 captures both immediacy and finesse in one glass. A beautifully balanced blend that delivers purity, elegance, and accessible charm at a great price point. — a year ago
Nice wine, but to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Have had and enjoyed many bottles of basis / liaison, first time having one of their “grand crus”. Quite transparent. Lovely light red berry nose. A bit raspberry soda quality on the palate. There is some earthiness but not quite enough to stand up to a simple roast chicken with mushrooms cooked in the chicken fat. Opened 10 hours before drinking, no decant — 4 years ago

This wine needs time. Leave it alone. Compared to the Liaison not that closed. Classic E&M. Takes ca. 1h to open up. Out of wack. Needs a year or so. Black Forest herbs. Cranberries sour blackberries. High acid. Limes. Light. Needs to settle down. Very edgy right now. Hard to read. — 7 years ago
Dark colour, red fruit in the nose and palate, full body but a bit strong in alcohol. Very good in 2009 — 11 years ago

This is insane. The new Liaison from Sven’s new winery. Gorgeous nose that really recaptures that E and M magic from 2009 and 2010. Deep cherries. Black cherries. Galore. Lipstick like intensity. Smells like elite Nuits St. Georges. Mindblowing for how pure it is. The most unreal dark black cherry fruit you’ve ever smelled. Like AI levels of black cherry. Also a lovely chalky background and compelling minerality. Blackberry and blackberry flower as well. So juicy and engaging with terrific power and wow that black cherry and blackberry fruit. Unreal freshness and sap. Awesome concentration and intensity and super small berry fruit intensity. This is so insanely delicious and has terrific backbone and structure for mid term aging. Now with air the florals are starting to go crazy. Also tree bark and other non fruit aromas. Just so good. Wow the concentration is off the charts. This is utterly compelling and unlike anything I have ever had from Germany. Genius. — 2 years ago
Between partial carbonic maceration and oak aging. The perfect expression of Beaujolais-bourguignon gamay. Airy and concentrated mouth, red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry), gourmet bubble gum, even regressive. More serious spicy notes perfectly balance the bouquet, linked by herbal peppery notes. One of the basics to me. Exactly the kind of wine you find as a buddy.
— 3 years ago
Spectacular. Vibrant and fresh. Great acidity. — 4 years ago
Superb as always. Nose of spice, bright cherries, juicy and deep with amazing rich liaison like fruit and such incredible depth. So wonderful and clean. Fresh but not hugely acidic. Just perfect. So juicy. Balanced and refined. Long and so pure. Just one of the best roses in the world. — 7 years ago
