Lewis Cellars

Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Lewis Cellars "Cellar Selection" tasting with canapes. Just opened after 2 year revamp of the Robert Sinsky offices into a beautiful tasting room with views of the valley at Yountville crossing/Silverado trail. Luv Napa in December only one there all afternoon.

Interesting wine. Almost a raspberry jam flavor without being sugary. — 3 years ago

La Colline... Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2013

Very nice gigondas - probably best I’ve had. Slightly hot, at 15%, which is my only complaint. I think we may have bought this on a honeymoon trip through the rhone in 2015 - our tastes have certainly changed since then but this is still nice. — 4 years ago

Marqués de Murrieta

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2005

Lovely wine. It’s wild that recent releases go for $200+ per bottle. Bought for $40 from vinchicago many years ago, after having at Terete in Haro, Rioja on our honeymoon.

Paired with grilled leg of lamb marinated with garlic, rosemary, thyme, and orange. Opened 4 hours ahead and decanted an hour. Not quite as deep as the last bottle (2+ years ago) but still very delicious. Wonderful example of what well made top quality Rioja can be. Incredible depth on the palate and finish. Medium perfect acid. Just delicious.

Méthode Traditionnelle Brut Rosé

First bottle of honeymoon wine at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental In San Francisco! It smells like the best piece of baked brioche bread, the crust specifically. Surprisingly light on the bubbles, almost a pet-nat level of effervescence, but the flavor is straight acidic red fruits, with strawberry and some lemon citrus, and a delicious dry finish. The finish is also mouth drying, but all mineral driven. Very enjoyable pre-dinner sparkling! — 4 years ago

Velvety red with nicely balanced strawberry, blackberry, and peach flavors. A great wine to drink on its own. — 9 months ago

Honeymoon Mendocino County Colombard Chardonnay 2023

2023. This vintage is 70% Colombard and 30% Chardonnay. Juicy mouth filling fruit and nice acidity. Paired well with crudités and bagna cauda. — a year ago

Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir 2019

Surprisingly refined and restrained expression of Pinot noir. Paired with polenta and chicken not too overly seasoned to hide the subtlety of the wine. — 4 years ago
