Domaine Gérard Duplessis

Montmains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2020

This is a pretty wine. Light straw with thin edges in the glass. The aromatics are lovely beginning with a sense of grass and the outdoors. Honeydew melon is prevalent alongside a bit of oak and smoke. Lemon with a touch of lime for good measure.

Minerality for days here. A ton of personality and depth for such a young Chablis. Terrific structure and good bones for the future. The acidity isn’t overpowering but still present. The palate closely follows the nose with citrus and stone fruits. More lemon zest on the long finish. Delicious and approachable and still has miles to go.

Monts Damnés Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2022 Monts Damnés is a wine whose qualities you might miss because its texture is so fine. It is calm, tender and elegant. It's not fruity but savory with a pure, clear, chalky style. A little tense at the moment, this wine could be approached but will benefit from another year in bottle - or many more. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, August 2024)

Delectable. Zesty orange and bright fruit. No alcohol after-bite. Would definitely serve to guests with a variety of dishes. — 4 months ago

Chavignol Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Nice minerality, definitely herbal. Missing some of the weight I’ve come to love with Sancerre of this caliber. — 3 months ago

Languedoc Syrah Grenache 2015

Deep ruby in color; prunes, black cherries, and mushrooms on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like stewed plums, overripe blackberries, and wet gravel with a long finish. Tastes like there was a little Brettanomyces during the fermentation. Not enough to get a barnyard flavor or smell, but enough to make it earthy and mushroom-y. It's good, but not my favorite. A very interesting wine.

After some time in the glass, it has developed aromas of chocolate, prunes, and dried herbs. It tastes like cloves and cherries. The other flavors and aromas are so there, but more in balance now. Adding another point to my score.
