Pisano RPF Tannat 2021 🇺🇾
A bold statement from Uruguay’s signature grape.
Crafted from 100% Tannat, this wine is part of Pisano’s most prestigious line, with RPF meaning Reserva Personal de la Familia, originally held back for family use only. Aged for 10–12 months in French oak, this is a powerful, intense, and deeply expressive red that doesn’t hold back.
On the nose: Explosive aromas of black plum, blackberry, charred tobacco, leather, and a heavy dusting of dark spices.
On the palate: A dark-fruited cascade, plum, blackberry compote, and baking spices unfold with layers of earthy, savory depth. Expect firm, drying tannins (classic Tannat!) balanced by juicy fruit and oak integration. Give it time, as it needs a good decant to fully show its hand.
Mouthfeel: Dense, textured, with a long, flavorful finish that sticks with you.
Food pairing? A must. Think grilled meats, short ribs, or slow-cooked lamb.
A wine that commands attention and celebrates bold Latino character, pure power with soul.

Very nice balance of earthiness and red fruit. Slight smokiness joins in as this opened up. Something I’ll gladly have around often. — 3 months ago
Deep , opaque violet ruby , with a thin violet rim . Quite dense and closed at first , deep plum , blackberry , meaty , chocolate , dark cherry , with a stony , granite note . On the palate this is dense dark blackberry , earthy plum , liquorice and cacau destes dark cherry . High tannin, really quite firm and gritty , fresh acidity and just balanced alcohol. Good gritty herbal and granite stained finish . This is very young and quite concentrated in style , lots of tannin to round out , but there is lots of stuffing here too . Come back in 5-10 years perhaps and will last well a further 5-10. — 18 days ago
100% Tempranillo. Very dark (remarkably dark considering the wine’s age) ruby/purple color with a slight garnet rim. Aromas of graphite, black cherries, dill and oaky smoke. Black cherry fruit on the palate with additional notes of tobacco, dark chocolate and savory spices. Long and linear finish. Medium-plus body and nicely balanced acidity and alcohol. Velvety smooth and quite elegant. At its peak! Appreciate the bottle, Petey! — a month ago

Been a minute. But glad to find this one again at Cantina in Sifnos. Clean lemony nose. Light lemon and sea salt. Slight hints of white peacb. — 4 days ago
— 15 days ago
16 years old and still going strong with beautiful tertiary aromas combined with fruity freshness. — 5 months ago

had this years ago and i feel like they've made some great strides: Monastrell from Yecla can be flabby fruit bombs, but this is a legit wine, great old vine material, had some of the secondary aromas & flavors from southern France, some of that feral quality, some iodine, white pepper along with copious amount of black & red fruit. polished & poised, smooth thru nice finish — 2 days ago
