Watch out famed northern Rhône producers. This label has a long way to go but the wine is already a world class killer of Syrah giants. Ripping. I would even say give it a minute it just unfolds more and more intensely. Only red wine I’ve ever successfully paired with some earthy chocolate too. — 6 years ago
Lemon in colour. Notes of Orange peel and Quince on nose and palate. Medium to full bodied. Refreshing uncomplicated drinking. The base wine, Grillo, used in Sicily for the fortified Marsala - a style that has fallen out of favour in recent times. Tasted again 30 weeks later on 10th May 2019 with consistent notes as above. Tasted again on 9th October 2019 with consistent notes. Also notes of old apples and quince as previous. A delicious Mediterranean white and excellent QPR. — 7 years ago
Not Bordeaux’s greatest vintage, however the wine was well cellared and served as a fun dive into Medoc with a friend who is passionate about the region.
Soft stewed fruit, but the wine was more so driven by an immediate rush of sweet milk chocolate on the nose upon opening / decanting. Structured, but palate was largely earth-driven with fallen leaves, wet earth, and iron. A wine that is clearly on the back 9, having its prime drinking window behind it. Fun wine to sip in the afternoon and enjoy a day off.
Enjoyed with a soft, brainy lobe of tempered Langres fromage. — 7 years ago

This weekend will have a world Rugby theme starting with this South African red followed by wines from New Zealand and Argentina. Sadly Australia having fallen to #7 ranked in the world did not feature :( A great combination of fruit and savoury characters. A lovely fragrant plummy earthy perfume. Nice minerality with blackberry and raspberry flavours on a medium weight palate. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. A world class Shiraz Blend not showing its 14 years and still a good cellaring future. Tasted again 23 weeks later on 23rd March 2019 with consistent notes. Tasted final bottle on 8th March 2020 with consistent notes. Better and fresher a few years ago. — 7 years ago

I’ve rated this many times before and will simply state that this is an absolutely wonderful Grand Cru Rosé that @Martin G Rivard introduced me to! Thank you, Martin!

This 2014 gem was the perfect start to the Mayacama comeback weekend. Ample fruit, acid, length...fighting, fencing, giants, true love! Things can only get better. — 8 years ago
Ending a fun day at Oracle Park in SF to see the GIANTS play the CUBS; won the series! Enjoying great food and wine at the Boulevard restaurant. Medium to dark red with a brown hue rim. Has funky wet earth barnyard and blueberry nose. A strawberry cherry fruit initial taste with a smoke and spice finish. Tannins are medium but relatively smooth. An hour after the first pour, the wine really opened up. Tannins are more smooth and there is nice black licorice finish with a hint of vanilla. — 6 years ago
Smell is boysenberry, old leather, freshly fallen maple leaves, lavender, hibiscus, chalky, wet, boysenberry, grippy, dry, finishing blackberry taste, color is a dark ruby with some magenta — 6 years ago

📝 I say this has aged quick in the baby bottle and very oxidative reminiscent of a Bollinger with 10 years age - a good new find 👍

Pure as freshly fallen snow. Apricot preserves, orange cream, and honeysuckle give way to almond extract and a touch of lemon zest. Long, mellow finish. — 8 years ago
