J. Daniel Cuvée Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

+1 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). A wonderful dark ruby red color. On the nose: jammy plum/dark cherry, floral, graphite, sandalwood, crushed stone. Taste: drinking great...silky, opulent, balanced wine with blackberry jam, cherry, earth, currants, and a peppery, saline-mineral long dry finish. YUM! — 3 days ago

Not as deliberately oxidative, but still too oxidative to be Chablis. — 2 months ago

The KING of Beaujolais! Though Daniel will not admit to such a silly moniker, he faises, for me, the greatest portfolio of Cru Beaujolais wines on the planet! — 11 days ago

Delicate aromas of peach and apricot and Alpine flowers. Soft on the palate with balanced unripe peach tartness and a little honeysuckle sweetness. Danke, Deutschland! — a month ago

Les Lys Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

“Les Lys” is one of the eight climats within Vaillons but it’s peculiar in terms of its exposure and the soil contains a bit more clay. The wines are equally unique expressions and typically long lived. This bottle is no exception.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a hour. The 2010 “Les Lys” pours a bright yellow color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with explosive notes of tart and ripe orchard and tropical fruits: green apple, starfruit, passion fruit; a mixed bag of citrus with lemon, lime and even some tangerine. There’s white flowers, a whiff of brioche and racy minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. It has been a few years since I last had the 2010 and it’s no less stunning. Drink now through 2035+
