Cru Des Côtes Du Rhône

Famille Perrin

Les Cornuds Vinsobres Grenache Blend 2023

ESF
9.2

so much bang for the buck - reminds me of when southern Rhône used to be affordable... captivating wine: gorgeous dark ruby color, deep reservoir of black & red fruits, pepper, garrigue and exotic spices. Composed, graceful, med bodied palate, beautiful balance w/bright acidity carrying all the flavors thru long smooth finish — 9 days ago

Éric Texier

Côtes du Rhône Brézème Syrah 2000

[@Delectable Wine, this bottling has “Vielles Vignes” on the top of the front label, whereas the 2001 I also opened has no such designation.]
This lovely Syrah from Brezeme was made from virtually abandoned super old vineyards, with Eric Texier essentially first saving the old grapevines and then making great under-the radar French Syrah from these super old vines (it always helps that Eric is as nice a guy as you’ll ever meet)!! These wines are unfiltered, with simply incredible acidity, low ABV (12.5 to 13%), classic black olive, savoury, faint smoky aromas as well, still very fresh and crisp, lingering finish, this bottle seems mature, but holding well. I actually purchased 11 bottles of this 2000 on WineBid around 2003/2004, Eric had quickly attained a ton of notoriety and respect on various online wine sites, including West Coast Wine, and a fair amount of people on that site (not me, but a close friend was active) purchased these early Brezemes, opened a bottle, and were (their words, not mine) overwhelmed by the very high acidity, so these wines were being dumped on WineBid for less than $10/bottle — I was happy to oblige (same story for the 2001 which I’ll post on next!!

Château de Beaucastel

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend 1988

So, initially I thought this was nowhere near the 1990 Marcoux CdP, and this is Côtes du Rhône (WHAT????), but for a 38 year old CdR, it’s pretty fine, zero tannins, definitely lower alcohol (label says 12.5% ABV, but I’m not buying it?!?!), but no noticeable ABV and smooth and suave, honestly, I attribute the great showing to the 1988 vintage!!? — a month ago

Cellier des Dauphins

Les Dauphins Réserve Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2024

Another solid vintage of this Côtes du Rhône staple. Blend of Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%). Dark garnet color with ruby highlights. Aromas of ripe black fruit, violets, dried rose petals and roasted meat. Flavors of ripe red and black cherry/raspberry/plum fruit, savory dried herbs and spices and a bit of black licorice. Hint of earth and bramble on the long dry finish. No real noticeable oak aging. Fruit forward and fresh. Velvety tannins and medium-plus body. Exceptional quality and consistency for the price. Thanks for sharing, Chris B! — 4 months ago

Petit Ours Brun Côtes du Rhône Syrah

Nose - lilacs, soil, clay amphora and erasers! (Haha) Flavors - cranberry and tart blueberries. Mouthfeel - a bit sharp and acidic with a semi dry finish some tannins but not too much. Look - gorgeous garnet color. Food - went sooo very well with the lamb my hubs made. — 5 months ago

Château de Montfaucon

Baron Louis Cru Des Côtes du Rhône Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2017

[60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, 5% Carignan, 5% Mourvedre] Still very grapey and primary, I actually tasted this wine in barrel in May of 2019 at the Chateau, and it tastes like it’s barely evolved since then, great acid, ripe, round tannins, long, lingering finish, this should easily age another 10 years based on my history of tasting this cuvée since the 1998!! — 6 months ago
