Color of a young white wine, soft but bright straw-yellow. Mineral and herbal nose. On the palate, true expression of Sauvignon Blanc: Herbal, zesty and lime freshness, fleshy and round. Not overpowering acidity, just enough to keep the structure and the foundation of the wine solid throughout the finish. @sommselect I guess I kind of understand the profile of Sauv Blanc from Kimmeridgian soil. Fascinating... next time will taste a Chablis alongside to taste the similarities. Did a bold pairing with fish curry (paprika, coriander and ginger mainly), went really well especially because the dish did not have any creamy or buttery flavors. The fish has fats that is really oily (very Asian), so that kind of complemented this wine I think! — 6 years ago

Color : White
Wine estate : Romain Papilloud
Designation : Vétroz (AOC Valais)
Name : Amigne Grand Cru de Vétroz
Country : Switzerland
Vivino : 4/5
Note : Romain Papilloud, self-made-man, became a winemaker in 1979 and owner in 1987. The majority of his vineyard is located in Vétroz (Valais, Switzerland). We will observe on the top of the bottle 1 to 3 bees which represents the sugar content (A bee means 0 to 8 grams).
With a yellow robe, the nose of this amine is rich with flavors of citrus (tangerine) and honey. On the palate, a beautiful structure with apricot flavors and a delicacy in the end.
----------

Delightful wine, seeing the other tasting notes I wonder how many people took the time decant the wine in a wide based carafe or a developing decanter an hour or more before drinking? full bodied and hearty for st julien, nice casis and lovely tannin expression and went beautifully with rack of lamb, cheese mash and ratatouille. Still young, but with balance and racy if not long finish. Excellent value and overjoyed that I had the foresight to buy 6 for autumnal drinking. 7 % of beautiful petit verdot from leoville poyferre main vinyard that showed fantastic maturity but simply wasn't needed for the grand vin, together with 30% of the grand vin fruitwent into this and it shiws with spice from the excellent petit verdot and extra depth and complexity from that 30% grand vin. Great wine and the site is now it's own separate vineyard. If you didnt decant this wine at its current stage of evolution then do not rate it. Great value and crying out for food. Hungry again for lamb now. — 9 years ago
