Had this over 2 days and it is 2 different wines. Yesterday more of the cedar/cigar was showing. Today it’s mushrooms. Fun getting back into Bordeaux. — a month ago

Château Canon-la-Gaffelière

Comtes de Neipperg Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Lovely wine that still has a bold tannic structure after a two hour decant. I suspect this wine will have have even better presentation in several years, even though it was fully enjoyable tonight. — 4 months ago

Huge smiles for this wine! Drinking wonderfully now. Still has several years left in its peak drinking window. Elegant smooth black and blue fruits with creamy chocolate. Excellent! — 3 years ago

Clos Marsalette

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Co-owned by Stephan von Neipperg (La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffelière in Saint-Emilion). A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Very attractive nose with black cherries, blackberries and strawberry marmelade, mixed with smokey oak and Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated black fruit, smooth tannin and great spicy length. Super sexy hedonistic Bordeaux. Amazing value too. Highly recommended. — a month ago

Château Armens

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

2012 vintage. Alexandre de Malet Roquefort (owner of Premier Grand Cru Classé La Gaffelière, Chapelle d'Aliénor Bordeaux Supérieur and co-owner of the tiny Pomerol estate La Connivence) bought this estate in 1999. In my experience his wines are very reliable and classic, elegant and never overextracted. This medium-bodied Saint-Emilion (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a solid effort for the vintage (that generally fared much better for Merlot than Cabernet Sauvignon). Strawberry fruit and very subtle oak, freshness and balance. Drinking well now, but I feel there is more room for improvement. A nice wine nearing maturity. The only "problem" is that for the price (21,9 euro) you can buy the delicious 2015 second wine of La Gaffelière. — a year ago

Château Guillemin la Gaffelière

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

A nice right bank Bordeaux. Cab Franc adds some angularity to what is a bit of a dark fruit forward wine from the Merlot. Good acidity. Showing well but a touch young. — 4 years ago

Other night. Bold. 2010 still needed air and had plenty of time left for the cellar. — 3 months ago
