Aux Caudelayres Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Lyle Fass

Lovely, ripe nose of cassis, huckleberry, tobacco, plum and spice. Lovey minerality. Very fine and refined. Palate is juicy and structured with lovely purity, length and balance. Really showing well. Love Fronsac when it is on. Outstanding length. Nose is bright and high toned. Such a lively bottle of Bordeaux. Great fruit soak on the finish and terrific mineral infused texture. 9.3. Maybe 9.4 with air. Much better than my last bottle. Nose has cocoa now. Big plum. Classic right bank satellite vibes. Unreal juiciness. Tangy cassis. — 3 months ago

Château Renard Mondesir

Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 1999

Dusty, earth driven with cedar and cigar box. Improved in the glass with dried fruit coming on. Pretty light bodied for Bordeaux but has some chewy tannins and a lifted finish. — 15 days ago

Clos Marsalette

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Co-owned by Stephan von Neipperg (La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffelière in Saint-Emilion). A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Very attractive nose with black cherries, blackberries and strawberry marmelade, mixed with smokey oak and Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated black fruit, smooth tannin and great spicy length. Super sexy hedonistic Bordeaux. Amazing value too. Highly recommended. — a month ago

Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Wonderful nose. Earth. Mineral. Berries. Cocoa. Floral. Appealing grapiness. Camphor. Creosote. Juicy and concentrated. It has major structure and depth. Acid is good but not great. Big tannins. Long finish. Decadent. Sneaky persistence. — 3 months ago

Château Canon

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Canon bursts from the glass with expressive notions of baked black cherries, kirsch, plum preserves and black raspberries plus hints of red roses, Ceylon tea, black olives and fertile loam. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant and refined, with a soft, finely grained texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. The blend is 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc and it was aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% new. — 2 months ago
