Castello di Gabiano ‘Il Ruvo’ Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese 2017: Medium-bodied. Noticeable tannins & lively acidity. Complex aromas with bright fruity taste. Fresh flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, dried herbs, earth & a hint of oak. Velvety long finish. Made from 100% Grignolino grape, a Piemonte grape variety, this wine offered a soft delicate texture yet rich red fruit taste. For me, this was a great find; an exotic northern Italian beauty that does not have as strong of a personality as a Nebbiolo, Barbera or Dolcetto but can stand in its own! Lovely wine! Very harmonious IGT from Tuscan hill south of Florence. The blend composition; Sangiovese, Merlot and Cab Sauv., which provides an interesting and unique complexity. Dark cherry, raisins, dates on the nose, pleasant acidity and perfectly balanced. Soft tannins and medium dry. Long but not overly lingering finish. Quick fact this wine is from Sting (the singer) vinyard. Great job! — a year ago
