Absolutely delicious. Lots of minerality. Stiff bouquet but smooth with a wonderful finish — 2 months ago
2021 vintage.
Sangiovese 60 % and Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % from Pitigliano estate in Maremma, Tuscany with a southwest exposure.
Owned by Tommasi family since 1997.
Rompicolla is ‘breakneck’ but means tremendously steep and slippery slope…a risky adventure.
Soils are deep in volcanic tuff.
Stainless steel ferment and matured 1 year in 65 HL Slavonian oak casks.
Red cherries, raspberries, savoury spice, and floral.
Medium bodied but fresh and clean on the finish.
This wine loves food ….and I appreciate that. — 4 months ago
Has Vermentino fallen out of favour with Italians and is being replaced by a taste for Chardonnay?
Maybe but I don't want to believe it yet.
On hot summer days there is not much more refreshing than a well chilled glass of Vermentino. Chilled is a must - it still has enough oomph in the nose to release its floral essence. Once it comes up to room temp it can be overwhelmingly perfumey IMHO. Good acid balance.
I'm pretty convinced that you can trust anything from Fontori to be a solid choice. — 9 months ago
Gold hue. Aromas and flavors of apple, apricot, bell pepper, lemon, and petrol, with a hint of grass and creamy notes. Medium body with medium-plus acidity. Silky and rounded mouthfeel. Complex bouquet. Elegant and balanced, with a lasting finish. — 2 years ago

Terre di Talamo – Vento Vermentino 2024
Toscana IGT, Maremma – Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
Crafted from organically grown Vermentino, this white reflects the Tuscan coast’s maritime influence. The IGT classification allows the estate flexibility while still showcasing the grape’s tension and vibrancy from Maremma’s sun-drenched vineyards.
Aromas & Flavors
Enticing notes of white peach, broom flowers, and a saline iodine edge mix with ripe tropical fruit—mango and papaya. It feels Mediterranean to its core, with both floral charm and coastal freshness.
Mouthfeel
Vibrant and tense, marked by crisp acidity and a light, tingling texture that keeps it energetic. The finish is silky and elegant, with a mineral snap that invites another sip.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside grilled shrimp, seafood pasta, or even a tomato-based fish stew. Its brightness also makes it an easy pairing for mozzarella-based salads.
Verdict
A lively Tuscan white that proves Vermentino shines under the IGT umbrella. Clean, crisp, and expressive, it’s both refreshing and distinctive—ideal for warm-weather sipping. Cheers! — 8 months ago
Dry. Robust. A little fruity, but not sweet. Hint tobacco. — 2 years ago
Another solid vintage of this unique Tuscan wine. IGT blend of Teroldego (90%) and Syrah (10%). Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of red and black fruit, leather, dark cocoa and orange zest. Flavors of cranberry sauce, cooked black cherry/berry/plum and raspberry fruit with additional hints of vanilla, dark chocolate and pepper spice. Medium length well balanced finish and well integrated velvety tannins. Solid richness and complexity. Consistently delicious. Appreciate you sharing this bottle, Mark S! — 2 months ago
Lovely wine made with minimal processing. 👌🏻 — 3 months ago
Good value from TJs — 4 months ago
Seemingly more youthful than the notes on my last bottle, about 20 months ago, would suggest. A fair amount of bricking at the rim, but the nose shows a nice integration of dark macerated cherry, Provençal herbs, iodiney minerals, and sun-baked earth. In the mouth, the tannins are there but resolving. Decent concentration, and sneaky acidity lifts it up a bit. Nice! — 7 months ago
