Cantina Al Di La Del Fiume

Poggio al Casone

Casone Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2017

Fairly well balanced, light for a Tuscan but sufficiently flavorful. Better on the 2nd and 3rd nights if well capped. Simple evening dinner-wine with a comfortable 13% alc. Definitely a good value from TJ. — 5 months ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Poggio al Vento Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

One of the best Italian wines I've had recently. Deep, juicy cherry and plum notes dominate. Well-rounded, elegant. Great with some chocolate or a lighter pasta dish with lean meat. — 9 months ago

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Second time having this, but a different vintage. Full bodied. The colour is purple... electric. Very big. Needs some time to mellow out. — 6 years ago

Poggio al Tesoro

Sondraia Bolgheri Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2004

At first, this wine seemed slightly over the hill. Not sure if it was pairing with food, some aeration or the alcohol (in my head) that let this wine blossom in the glass. This wine sings after 30 minutes. Somewhat soft and round with lots of structure and backbone making a for a great balanced wine. — 7 years ago

Poggio Al Granchio Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2020

2020 vintage. A little dirty for Brunello but honestly, a nice change. Medium/medium-heavy body. Give it 3-4 years. 05.21.25. — 5 months ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tenuta Guado al Tasso Cont'Ugo Bolgheri Merlot 2017

Antinori Wine Dinner. A unique dessert pairing. Ricotta flan w/gorgonzola fondue, and...a Merlot? This worked surprisingly well...more like a cheese and Bordeaux mashup. This vintage was more problematic and the wine was a bit harsher than ‘15 or ‘16. — 5 years ago

Emilia forever. Will always be a fan of these beautiful wines from an under appreciated region. It’s no Piedmont but it’s got heart and soul just as well — 6 years ago

Castellani La Cattura Toscana Teroldego Syrah 2015

continuing in the vein of unusual Italian wines, we thoroughly enjoyed this 10 yr old Teroldego from Tuscany of all places: pouring a deep rich ruby, partially opaque with copious quantities of red fruit on the nose, some dark berried fruit as well, licorice, dirt & soil, peppery goodness some dried herbs and so on. complex and engaging, med bodied on palate, more fruit & spice, fleshy mild tannins and smooth finish - other than color, not showing its age. — 6 months ago

I really enjoyed this!

Dark, thick wine where you can really taste the Syrah and tannins. Spicy and full of fruit. Paired very nice with prosciutto wrapped chicken. Definitely young with many years left in it! Not bad at the restaurant list price of £50.
