The wine that sent me down the rabbit hole. Not sure if it was the silky texture, boysenberry and licorice flavors, or the chocolate. In my mind the 2012 Altamura was brilliance in a glass and I needed to learn more.
Altamura Ranch is located in Wooden Valley. The valley is described as a small, almost round valley, approximately two miles wide at its widest point and located 9 miles northeast of the town of Napa within the Napa Valley appellation. It is is bordered by the Vaca Range to the east and “Napa Mountain” to the west.
I will always remember the first time I enjoyed this wine. Fairly confident I could pick this wine blind. The 2013 is just as good as the first time. — 3 years ago
When Abele Bolla opened up Al Gambero Inn in the northern Italian town of Soave over 100 years ago, no one could have guessed that the favorite pastime of winemaking would continue for four generations. Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy berry fruits, spice and oak. On the palate cherry and dried plum with bold spice, floral, cacao and cedar. Structured firm tannins, nicely balanced on long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy spice. Just starting to drink well now with room to age. — 4 years ago
2014 vintage. Last tasted 07.04.25 (9.3) and 01.30.25 (9.3). Decanted with some sed and tasted after 30 mins. Consistent with previous tastings in 2025. Hint of richness up front, then very businesslike afterwards. Fairly dry but began to fold a modicum of fruit into the proceedings a spell ago. Quintessential, affordable BDX with a decade of service tendered out in the boonies but back in town again and starting to hit the hot spots. Lean but not mean. Strike up the conversation in the next year or so and you two just might hit it off. 09.25.25. — a month ago
Considered one of the greatest Condrieus. 100% Viognier from five different parcels - each vinified separately, then blended-, including Côtes Chatillon, a steeply terraced vineyard overlooking the town of Condrieu and Chateu Volan, near the town of Malleval. Aged in 100% new oak. Intense nose. Aromas of caramel, apricot, white flowers. Full-bodied, rich, opulent, but also elegant, balanced. — 3 years ago

Made in a small town at foot of Sierra Cantabria in the DO. A single variety Tempranillo from 50 year old vines has a deep Ruby red color and aged for 18 months in French and American oak. Aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate ripe black fruit, fine tannins, well balanced with a medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and some oak notes. Nice! — 2 years ago

Half Acre Beer Company Lager Town Oktoberfest
Red Orange opaque amber with yellow orange top. Sea dragons and pretzels waltz, bowing backwards among stylized skeletal equines turned high contrast with melting mantis head ambivalence latencies. Dried apricot and pineapple honey breadsticks with capers, lime, lemon twist and hazelnut aromas. Strong lemon influence on the entry shows points of grapefruit pith and a lovely roundness suggestive of rosemary and dietary yeast.
Intense and lovely Oktoberfest offering.
