Money Road Ranch Pinot Grigio 2024

Ming L
9.0

I don’t remember I’ve ever drank a wine that’s less than a year old. I’m surprised how much I like it. The aromatic profile is quite similar to the 2021 I tasted before with lime, yellow apple, pear, underripe banana, and light chalk, but rather expressive. Medium body and round flesh acidity. Finish with a saline touch. Don’t quite understand why the winery would grow Pinot Grigio on a prime Oakville vineyard. I meant they make outstanding Cab and Merlot from the site that can fetch far more money.

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend 2016

Honeysuckle, Apricot and a musky note on the nose. On the palate initially a sweet mandarin fleshy note with apricot. With time a plethora of fruits - tropical, stone fruit and citrus even ripe banana. There is a saline streak in the overall minerality. Medium minus acid. Medium plus to profound intensity. This wine has it all. Look up the word delicious in the Dictionary and you will see a photo of this CdP Blanc from Beaucastel!! A blend of 80% Roussanne; 15% Grenache Blanc and 5 % of a few other varieties including Clairette. Lucky to have 1 more bottle. — 5 years ago

Carneros Chardonnay 2022

Golden hay color. Banana, peach, pineapple, honey, apple, pear on the nose. Rich and buttery on the palate. Lychee, vanilla, cream. Distinct palate, but I prefer a less oaky chard. — 2 years ago

Stony Hill

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2009

Pop and pour pre Thanksgiving dinner fireup with oysters. A stunning medium gold color. On the nose: perfumed notes of baked banana, celery, vanilla, green apple, slate. Taste: smooth, chalky wine with apricots, lemon, lime zest, flinty, white grapefruit, minerals. Nice....though on the lower acidity for Stony Hill. — 3 years ago

Chery Condrieu Viognier 2017

Very intense. On the nose: ripe peach, guava, some va, ripe tarragon, vanilla custard, bruised banana. On the palate, wow, the density is off the charts, but the acidity is right there to support. My only complaint is that this clunky and maybe overblown, but that's the style. Did I mention 15.5% abv, which is surprisingly well-hidden with just a touch of white pepper spice and heat on the finish. Not nearly as well-integrated as the 2015. — 6 years ago

Badet Clément & Co.

Révélation Vin de Pays d'Oc Chardonnay

Color of light tea. Nose is nice, full of ripe tropical fruits, mango, banana, and pineapple, ample fragrance. Taste follows the nose with addition of rind and spice, some mineral too. Less sweet than I thought. Crisper than I thought. Aftertaste of some more green apple, clean, medium long. Nice and refreshing. — 3 years ago

Cuvée Indigène Chardonnay 2016

16’ Peter Michael Cuvee Indigene.
Do yourself a favor & decanted this in a cellar for 60- 90 minutes.
Intense nose of mineral, dried apricot, peach.
WOW… Rich pear, fig, butter, honeysuckle, hazelnut, Banana foster, 4/10 acidity.
Flipping sick!
Wish I had a case of this.
No problem holding onto this wine for another decade.

@David L we had the 2014 version of this in a 6 bottle blind horizontal of all the PM chards back in May. Consensus of the wine group was the Cuvée Indigene was the favorite, even over the point rouge.
