Such an underrated vintage both red and white. Raveneau‘s 2013 Valmur is electric from the first pour wafting killer yellow fruit intensity, white chocolate, white flowers, notions of sea breeze and a little botrytis influenced saffron. The palate is deep, waxy and rich with balanced zippy citrusy acids and a crushed oyster shell minerality that gives way to a considerably long, focused and lifted finish. Fantastic bottle.

Wow. This has a crazy nose. Pretty tropical for Raveneau: peach, lychee, hints of melon. There’s the classic undertow of limestone but the expansive flavors are what hits you. Pretty forward but still has a lot to give. Very pure and exciting. As time goes by in glass there’s more salinity coming through. A great wine. Slightly atypical.

Mar 31st, 2022Really bright and vivid, almost tropical at times, fruit. Un Raveneau-like but not unpleasant. Great definition and clarity with crystalline structure, minerality and real definition on the finish. Very good stuff. Probably at it too young. Atypical but classy.

2013 Raveneau Valmur Chablis. Repq catering. Opened it 4-4.5 hours later. It needed the time and was delicious when we poured into the glass out of the bottle. Could have even opened it earlier, but was great at 4-4.5 hours.
