This is FINALLY singing. Some austerity on the nose with Chocolate, bacon fat, and bramble fruit. On the palate, this is med/full bodied. Sweet black fruit, then ripe prominent tannins kick in straight away and carry the flavours through. Tannins are now balanced with sweet fruit so we now have balance. Good — 6 years ago
This is a damn fine Chardonnay. It’s got that touch of austerity that I truly enjoy along with orchard and a touch of tropical fruits. Oak isn’t overdone and the grape shines through. More like this, please, erryone else. — 7 years ago
New day, new grape. Nicely weighted. A mature austerity. — 8 years ago

Classic reductive funkyness. This is a seriously ageworthy bottle. 7 years have done nothing to this wine and it will easily age for decades. Super tight, concentrate, packed with power and austerity. Gun flint, hazelnuts, lemon peel, chamomile, smokeness (bon fire) and a strong sense of minerality. — 8 years ago
Enjoying some wonderful aged Australian Rieslings from my cellar currently. This from the Eden Valley was almost as impressive as the Eldredge from the Clare a few days ago. Pale Lemon in colour. Nose of mandarin rind, pith and flesh, dried flowers but no Kero. The palate is showing Mandarin juice, a touch of sweetness and low acid. This wine has blossomed with cellaring, becoming delicious after the austerity of its youth. The vineyard was planted in 1912. Colin Kroehn as at 2012 has tended this vineyard for 66 of his 86 years. — 5 years ago
HAD THE CASTELAO but can't find to log it.
Delicious!! Muted dark fruit and some dry austerity in the midpalate with a stronger finish. Likely can rest a bit more but delicious now.
Would pair well with meats. — 6 years ago
At Rvlt wine with Pei Pei.
Fitted brief perfectly. A bit of old world austerity, but with luscious fruit fwd style. Very quaffable. — 7 years ago
Vintage 2010 - there are multiple reasons why I love #bourgueil let me explain. When I just discovered wine as a real passion - at the age of 18 - I adored the raspberry smell no other wine offered so generous. I like the name: Bourgueil is by far the most beautiful AOC name. My wife and I fell in love with the great dishes of Madame Debacker and the #Loire region on our honeymoon. This #cabernetfranc is deep black in the glass. It has character. Even at this age the wine shows a bit harshness, and an austerity that is found in Bordeaux often. But the raspberry and cherry smell reminds me of Cru de Beaujolais. It has also flint and mineral expression in smell, hints of leather, tobacco, clove. On the tongue it has a velvety structure. Bourgueil can be complex and frivolous at the same time. / Partnered it with Bavette from bbq and cauliflower mousse. — 8 years ago
Stunner for 2001! Elegant and effusive out of the gate with freshness abound. Hints of mushroomed austerity and salinity that is supremely lifting. Such a treat!! — 8 years ago
What a wine, once opened up.
Superdry but super structure.
Complexity and long long long.
I’d be totally lost without the label, got some Provence scents, herbs, sun, jam and then austerity, austerity, austerity.
Probably could have wait a few more years.

What a delightful expression of Sangiovese from a difficult vintage. Nose reveals notes of red cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and red raspberry fruit tied to lovely loam and spice tones. Palate is juicy if a bit high toned with lovely red fruit flavors, a noble austerity and resolved tannins. Finish has lift and a dynamite bitter red cherry hint wrapped in spice. Appears to be at or is close to its peak but I imagine it will hold here for 5 to 7 more years. — 6 years ago
Reticent and austere at the beginning but then started to open up. Dark red fruits, savory notes, violets emerge. It has good acidity and tannin balance but the austerity is going to require more patience. — 6 years ago
Over the course of a few hours, this wine has transformed from a pillar of austerity to a thing of beauty. A riper expression of Sagrantino, the delicacy of flavors - dried rose petal and lavender - prove a fascinating juxtaposition to the firm backbone of tannin that grows chalkier and more brittle with time in the glass. Kirsch, graphite, and rosemary. — 8 years ago
There’s a note of funk on the nose that never really dissipates, even with a few hours of air. Otherwise, I would rate this even higher, as there’s terrific fruit here, the acidity is present but in a supporting role, and there’s none of the austerity seen in some previous vintages. — 8 years ago
Lemon oil on a swab, smoky flint, underripe melon, squash blossom, corn husk bordering on jalapeño muffin, hay bale, eggshell, pie crust and white mushrooms are the primary scents. Lighter mouthfeel, with an unexpected creaminess turns olive oil with lemon oil, caperberry, and rag paper. Austerity minimized by a day of age. #moutard #chablis #chablisfordays #blancshavemorefun #blanc #chablisian #hashtag #vivelafrance — 8 years ago

Lime pith swells with shallot, lemon peel and lemon-poppy bread, seashell, chive, carnation, orchids, candied grapefruit peel bouquet. Dry and enticing entry, has a Chablis like austerity, but rounder, showing chamomile and caper with lemon juiciness. .
